Anyone having hassles accessing Prophecy at all ? Not been able to access the site since Saturday..
 
Yep same problem, there was a mysql database error displayed yesterday.
 
Let's hope this does not turn into another click2buyIT thread, prophecy is(was) one of my favourite shops.

Ok, so as many of you know, the server has been offline most of the weekend. This is because of a hard drive crash which caused the server to slow down to a crawl, not even allowing a single page to load.

Thankfully, it came back up (semi) and did not die totally so we managed to get current data off, and did not lose a single post/order/thread/anything else.

The forums will be slow, and I've set it to show users away if the load gets too high, so please bear with me for the next day or two, as I reload the original server. The current server is an old pentium 4 and we just barely manage to run everything on the box, but whoever does get access must still have a relatively good experience, as, if I do not restrict access, the server will literally die, and we will sit without forums till I can get the new server back up.

If anyone asks questions about the forums in any other post/forum, please point them to this one, and lock all threads where such questions are asked (this is instructions to the mods).

Please note that I will ignore all PM's, as I am pretty preoccupied now to try and get the old box up and running. If you have any shop questions, please phone the shop, or email us. We will get back to you. Mods, (and everyone else) please make this point clear if you see the question asked and do not see me getting back to the person. This will go for any forum questions as well.

Thanks for your patience in this matter. You will notice this is not an announcement, as announcements simply don't get read anyways, so it's pointless.

Hi Guys :D Rest assured that we aren't disappearing!

As with the above thread, we had a hard drive failure on Saturday evening - we became aware of it at about 8:30PM or so, the last order we received was 8:12 PM - so it failed during that time. While we did have recent backups, we obviously wanted to copy the most recent data off of the server - we copied down all this data on Saturday/Sunday, and then did a fresh install on our dev server on Sunday and installed that box first thing Monday morning. The shop was running 95% for Monday, and the forums where up and down - we then reinstalled the primary server with new drives, and swapped out the boxes Monday night - so we are now back to full speed.

As always, we are working on improving our backup processes and systems so that we are less likely to experience a failure, and so that we can recover from a failure more quickly with less down time. Thanks for being understanding and patience, and thanks for copying the post Aqua_Lung :D

On a side note - Prophecy is very important to the founders (myself and Firestar) and we are not going anywhere! We have enjoyed building it up and are amped to see it grow from strength to strength in the future. We've been running the shop for 3+ years, and have been running separate IT businesses for at least 3 years prior to that.
