Proteas vs Zimbabwe: October 2010

You'll have to add Rusty Theron and possibly Ryan McLaren to that mix... the 4 of them will compete for a single slot!
Nah I'd like to see Rusty in as a permanent bowler. Ryan Mclaren will probably compete with Albie for the all rounder spot.

Agree, as I'm a Rusty supporter.
Front 5 bowlers?
Dale Steyn
Rusty Theron
Johan Botha
Wayne Parnell/Morne Morkel
Albie Morkel/Ryan McLaren

With Kallis and JP as backup...

Who's left?
Charl Langeveldt
Vernon Philander
Dillon du Preez
Roelof van der Merwe

South Africa 399-6 after 50 overs
(JP 129, AB 109)[/QUOTE]

Zimbabwe 127 all out after 29 overs
(Botha 2-32, Theron 3-18, Parnell 2-30, Morkel 2-35)

SA win by 272 runs
and
the Series 3-0

Doesn't get more emphatic. Given the opposition, we should expect the Proteas to do well. But I was a lot more pleased with the discipline in their bowling. Only 2 extras in the 29 overs. Nice.

kuikenmoord, I hope duminy has enough confidence to now perform against a better opposition.

Yeah that's pretty the bowlers I'd have for the WC. I'm not sure about the backup bowlers though, I'd only have Langeveldt from those. When Tsotsobe makes way for Steyn, he could be one of the backup bowlers too.

The batting is fairly solid. Although Miller and Ingram will fight for one spot once Kallis returns. I'm inclined to sway towards Miller, he seems in better touch at the moment.

With AB keeping mcclaren won't make the squad. The reason why he got picked ahead of a.morkel was because of his bowling, his batting isn't close to albie. With ab keeping we have enough bowlers in the side that we can play 2 finishers in both morkel and miller.

I believe the squad that played in the zim odi's plus the three injured steyn, kallis and m.morkel have already booked their tickets to wc 2010. Only injury is going to change the squad at this stage.

So basicly:

1.Smith
2.Amla
3.Kallis
4.AB
5.Duminy
6.Miller
7.A.Morkel
8.Botha
9.Parnell
10.Steyn
11.Theron
12.M.Morkel
13.Ingram
14.Langeveld
15.Peterson
16.Tsotsobe

One of the quick bowlers will be cut from the final 15. I think its going to be lopsy or langeveld. This is based on the fact that parnell and theron both played all three games vs zim while those two didn't.

This is the way the selectors seem to be going. Don't think there is time for anyone to make a last minute claim.

Yes well done Proteas, and before the usual suspects come with there usual bile other countries have had there oppurtunites against minnow teams and didnt win that emphatically as this (Except New Zealand of all teams which is in first place).

I agree, nothing against McClaren but we cant have both in the team

Yes it was a really good showing. Hope we can keep the momentum now.

Yeah. Rusty FTW, he might be the next Pollock.

Totally different bowlers/players. Polly was very good with the new ball but struggled at times at the death. Rusty is much better with the older ball and great at the death. No need to comment on their batting.
