Will anyone want to march to ICASA / DoC and ask for something like
1. Definite date to LLU
2. Cellular interconnection fee drop (definite date as well)
3. Rewording local bandwidth uncapped ruling so it means "uncapped"

This list is by no means complete and I have no idea if any1 will want to do this, got the idea after reading posts saying that we SA consumers are super apathetic and ready to lie back and be screwed.

So what do you all think?

Can this done? what kind of legal implications will there be and also how much can we really achieve even if we get enough people to gather and march.

That's a great idea, likewise, if in Cape Town count me in.

However I'm sorry to be the bearer of bad news I somehow doubt you will get a critical mass of participants organising this here. I suggest you approach one of the larger unions to stand behind this as well. All their members have cell phones so make the interconnect fee the number one issue.

Beyond getting critical mass to an idea like this..

It will achieve nothing,

You will march
You will hand over your "demands"
They will ignore them.

thats what i believe as well, even with criticle mass they will still ignore us... so whats the way forward then? making a website just makes it even easier for them to ignore us.

Honestly I hate being called an apathetic consumer, problem is nothing I do can change anything, and i really don't want to support neotel 1 for not having service in my area and 2 for not being consumer friendly, no way I am supporting another helkom in the making.

A better idea is to collect funds and pay http://ronja.twibright.com/mesh.php to finish the 100Meg Ronja. Present Ronja designs can go 4km with a 13cm joules loupes Tx and 40cm Fresnel lens receiver. These fiber like links can repeat a signal just like a fiber switch. The solution is to build your own FSO network not waste time protesting the ANC. The ANC runs Icasa, what is the point in protesting the ANC?

Count me in 100%. JHB CT or DBN.. I'll fly down just for the march! I am sure we can even get Cosatu ppl to join us to increase numbers! Either way something needs to be done!

Especially after today's article on cellular interconnect fees, Its ridiculous, I will begin to ask cosatu and other parties and see if they are interested and report back here.

ICASA must be stopped.

How about as part of the protest we impose a cap on the N1 and N2. Only 100 cars per hour may pass... Do it from 6am to 6pm every weekday for a week.

That should get our point across.

IF you're gonna add highways then you have to add the N1, N3, N12, M1, M2 and the R24, that will effectively kill transportation in Joburg, exactly what they have done to our communications.

Cap the highways! Brilliant!

They won't take us seriously unless we strike/protest "properly" ie, fsck things up, loot burn etc...

I'm keen!

Should really have done that, but then... there is this telkom worker's strike going on right now. How bout that?????:D:D

Got another idea to run thru, anyone knows if "I" as a member of the public can submit something into parliament or better yet "speak and ask questions" in parliament about this matter.

Just read a post today
http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthread.php?p=3028530

and really got my blood boiling, we're all saying that our market is not big enough and blah blah blah but kenyan's are getting 1MBPs uncapped for R799 while we're paying R899 for 384, if telkom is the problem they must just sort it out.

Either way, i believe, the only way forward is to take a firm stand.

Love the idea, but I think ICASA will say anything to make you go away, and then forget about it.
