Proton Gen2 - reliable or not?

I have posted a previous thread for comments or advice from current Proton Arena owners as well.

Bottom line is that I am also looking at getting a second hand Proton Gen2 as well.

I have had endless problems with my Polo Classic and can not afford another VW. My only option really is the Proton Gen2 - second hand.

Please please if there is any current Proton Gen2 owners that can give comments, it would be greatly appreciated!!!

Is the car reliable?
Parts & service?
Safety?
Fuel Consumption?
Any issues?

A friend of mine has the Proton Satra Neo - bought it second hand with 38000km on the clock in 2011.

He's never complained about it or had any issues so far.
