inFAMOUS was ****ing awesome for about six hours. Then I realised it was really just repeating itself, and I still had to slither from windowsill to windowsill to scale a wall. And that all I was really doing, over and over, was flipping the switch at the exchange.
In Prototype, you're also doing the same crap over and over. But you can charge straight up a skyscraper, dragging a person with you, and eat them at the top. And when you're done chomping, you can fly kick a helicopter.
Having played both, the more laborious navigation does seem a strange design choice for inFAMOUS. I mean, all it really does is waste time between the bottom and the top. I mean, that glide ability you get later on is pretty cool, but it's not enough to really speed stuff up. Elsewhere, Prototype's occasional difficulty spikes kinda diminish some of the game's fun.
I have to say, however, that I'm wildly in love with the way inFAMOUS looks. It's really an absolutely knock-out game in that department. I'm seldom one to go ga-ga over graphics, but inFAMOUS is really quite extraordinary.
I can't say I much preferred one over the other, really.
