tarzan's rig is similar specs as yours... expect anything from 30fps+ which is good enough.. hope that helped? another question comes up with the new inFAMOUS game. i think it retails at about R800. before i spend this amount on a ps3 game, would it be a good buy, or not worth the money?

played infamous for a bit on my friends ps3, my verdict is that if you do own a ps3 then this is for you what gears of wars is for the xbox...the must own game, really really fun game, even got me contemplating actually buying a ps3 just for this game, really beautifull,well rounded game..solid storyline aswell
 
ok then im sold!!! just hate the price on ps3 games. makes me think twice before buying one. you can buy 2 pc games for the price of a ps3 game

thats my grief with consoles and the reason I moved to pc gaming, its not about wether I can afford the content but just dont see R800 for a game being justified just because its on a console compared to the computer version selling for R400 for exactly the same game (actually the PC version is questionably better due to the fact that you can crack it and so doing protect your media and play at higher resolutions and more customizable graphical options). And the worst part about all of this is the fact that the gamming studio sees little of that mark-up, with most of it being taken by Sony or Microsoft respectably
 
yea.. ticks me off!! but why did they take that approach? is it because its more expensive to make using blue-ray discs, or because their consoles are relatively cheap, and now they need to make up for lost money? i cant play any fps on console! its just not natural!!! and why not make a mouse compatable with the consoles?

I don't see how larger capacities equate to more detail.
The framebuffer for the PS3 is only 256MB in size. If textures of massives sizes are going to be stored on blue-ray, then it becomes less feasible to do so.

Since the PS3 only manages 256MB per render cycle, to process, say 1GB of visual data, it would take longer than 1 second to do so.

There's no amount of Cell power processing that can offload that data from the graphics chip.

The storage size has more to do with added content, than visuals alone.

R800 for a game. thats the reason i dont do consoles. which is a pitty coz console exclusives suck. GT5, ufc indisputed, skate 1 and 2..........
i want those games
 
one plus for the ps3 is its blue ray capability. i have heard of many people who buy a ps3 over a more expensive blue-ray player. ps3 is still in the top 5 of all blue-ray players!
 
recouping production and R&D cost are exactly the reason why console games are more expensive. Guess its just a choice u make
 
yeah i guess.......in the long run pc is more expensive but you dont have to pay all at once. just upgrade now and then

no ways! in the short run the pc is more expensive...in the long run it works out cheaper, spend 13k building a mid to highish range pc play 2/3 years, retire it eventually to a media centre/home server..with a ps3 yoou spend %k buying the console, and then 10 games later you could just aswell have bought the ultimate home entertainer/all rounder = PC...consoles are awesome yes, for the lazy sacks that dont want to install, performance wise my retired computer has better performance than an xbox, my current pc laughs at the ps3...seriously there is just no match for the pc, never was never will be
 
lets not fight about this gents:D feel sorry for the next ps3 fan who posts on here:)
