Proxy Services

They lock out capped users from dsl-cache.saix.net, sadly.

You are using a proxy when browsing - if you want to or not. Telkom is running a transparent proxy for ADSL users. Entering dsl-cache.saix.net as your browser proxy shouldn't make much difference.

It does as they arnt the same proxy.

dsl-cache.saix.net was the proxy given to me by Telkom. It does not work after being capped. It is your standard ADSL proxy. Here is another Telkom cache proxy that is also quite good. 196.25.253.13:80

anyone know how i would configure my squid.conf file to first check dsl-cache.saix.net ??

currently i've got the following line configured, but doesn't seem to do anythng for me :-

cache_peer dsl-cache.saix.net parent 8080 8080

Thanx !

The onlye problem with that, is you cache is not going to store anything as it pulls everthing from the parent, rather to sibilig

This site (http://www.proxy4free.com) runs a scan on open proxies around the globe
There are often ones avalable in South Africa. However they get closed down fairly quickly

Ill be one to vouch, that the use of open proxies lately is very dangerous. More and more South-african open proxies for businesses etc. are filing law suits against unauthed users going through their proxies. Somehow these open proxies start to look like a way of making money :) run it open, catch some strangers and file them for money :)

In another breath, those who havnt read the Nukecap post under 3gig adsl section, Nukecap.co.za offer proxies at really competitive prices. (well currently there isnt really competition :D )

Have a look, and see if you like what we offer.

can u use proxy servers from other countrys in africa like algeria or only local south african ones?
