Hi All,

I need some help setting up my PS3 to play online games:
Here's what I got:
I'm connecting to Mtn using my Htc TytnII [HSPDA 3.6] on my pc & by sharing the internet connection, I connect to my Ps3 with Ethernet cable.
I don't have a router but when doing the Internet settings test everything Succeeds up until NAT type which fails due to timeout. - I only have one game to test on which fails anyway & i believe its coz the NAT type is 0 in the game when online. (Is it possible for other games to work even if NAT type is not set)
I can download content from games & go into the vitual world of PSN, type messages everything - if that helps identifying the problem. Also is HSPDA even fast enough for online game play?

I'll appreciate if anyone has a step by step guide to properly configure my pc & or my phone [if need be] for this to works I don't want to fiddle too much on my own & then have to format - I hate formatting!

I kindly thank all contibutions in advance...

You need to have a Cross-over cable not a plain ethernet.

This is what I did:

a. you need to share the 3G connection via Local Area Network (NETWORKING)
b. you need to change the LAN ip to 192.168.0.1
c. you need to set up internet connection manually on the PS3
-most settings you can leave as automatic, its the ip settings you will have to input manuallly

IP settings:
IP Address: 192.168.0.2
Subnet Mask (or whatever) : 255.255.255.0
default router: 192.168.0.1
primary and secondary dns settings are required from the 3G card itself
when 3G is connected go start-->run-->cmd - ipconfig/all
and you'll check the ip's for primary and secondary dns which need to be entered on the PS3 ip settings !
okay test the connection and that should be it !

If you still not able to connect - Check your firewall (disable)

Hope you come right.

Thanx for the info!
I'll check it out as soon as I get home - for now Im off to the IT dept for a cross-over cable!
