But the rumors circulating here is that its going to cost a fair amount of money for a PS3.

assassins creed looks amazing but whats the cost for a PS3 game going to be? plus you going to have to sell your car to buy a PS3....

TakeTwo are actually showing prices at the moment...

Games: R612
Console: R6 399

So if you wanted the Console, an extra controller and 3 games... It is going to set you back.

+- R8700

That is R3700 more than it cost me to get the same setup... Ouch....

Maybe I am just poor :p

PS: DOes anyone know if the PS3 controllers are wireless?

Like I said, need a bond for the thing ;)

And the controllers are wireless (Bluetooth) and when the battery is dying you can plug a USB cable into it to charge and play at the same time.

Ha ha he bought a PSP, Sony owns yo' a$$ ;)

I guess we could go on about it all day (I generally do :p ), I could post an equivalent 360 or Wii list that's at least 3 times longer.

But go ahead. I'll wait for my Wii. Oh wait, I'll be getting that 6 months before you see the PS3, sorry my bad. And you know what, in 3 years when they release an HD Wii for $250, and you've still got 7 years to go on your PS3, I'll still have paid less than you did for a Playstation 1++.

BTW, the "new" controller aparently sux big time, check out IGN's review of the thing.

Personally, we can't help but feel that the SIXAXIS (as it's now known) has been sadly neglected when viewed alongside the rest of the PS3. Compared to Microsoft's uber-comfortable Xbox 360 pad, the SIXAXIS feels cheap, plasticky, uncomfortable and disconcertingly light - almost as if it's going to fly out of your hands during those more extreme gaming moments.

More worrying still, the newly-designed lower L and R shoulder triggers feel more like they belong on an early controller prototype than the near-final model. Replicating the 360 pad, rather than being simple shoulder-mounted buttons, the triggers are now hinged horizontally along the controller, with pressure forcing them inward along the bottom - like triggers then, really. Trouble is, they're placed almost unnaturally low meaning we found ourselves operating them by jamming our fingers in between the hinges to apply pressure, rather than using the buttons themselves. What's more, the triggers are convex, with no grooves to keep your fingers in place - an issue further compounded by their smooth finish, offering no resistance against your finger tips. Invariably we found our digits slipping off with the triggers snapping back to their default position. Bah.

Ah okay good.... I can't imagine going back to wired controllers after using the wireless... The Xbox 360 controllers can also be recharged during play... It's a bit of a bugger because I then need to move closer to the TV but I can survive I am sure...

I have a spare battery and a spare wired controller just incase anyway :D...

I was playing Tiger Woods golf on the box last night, it was cheap so I got it. Man that is a relaxing way to spend an evening... I never thought golf on a console would be fun but I was to tired for a 'real' game :p

Throughout this post I've maintained that its a personal opinion whether its a PS3, 360 or Wii that tickles your fancy.

But since I'm still getting roasted for that then clearly its because you guys care so much about SnakePit and I that you couldn't stand the thought of us "wasting" our own hard earned money on something as hineous as the PS3.

For this I thank you, from the bottom of my Sony Blackened Heart

A bit off topic, but I'm about 90% certain that I'll be having more fun with my Wii than anybody will be having with a PS3. Fancy graphics and periphiral extras don't mean squat when it comes to fun gameplay, sorry people.

*edit* Supes, don't take it personally. I think people get annoyed with the PS3 because no matter how bad Sony screws the consumer, there's gonna be millions of people out there who still buy it, and it's kinda frustrating. I don't think anybody's personally attacking you though, but seriously, would you not consider a Wii, and about R5k change rather? *edit*

Interesting stats from IGN

Welcome back to our weekly feature analyzing the games you're most excited about. These are the titles you added to your wishlists the most over the past week, and they give us a pretty clear picture of what IGN readers are jonesin' for. The List also gives us an idea of what you don't give a damn about; like, oh, we don't know, the PlayStation 3 -- not a single game from Sony's new console shows up on the list. From a software standpoint, the PS3 just isn't showing up on people's radar. Of course, pre-orders were snatched up at lightning speed last week, so enthusiasm for the console remains high even if nobody cares about the games. But even cross-platform games like Call of Duty 3 and Assassin's Creed generate more excitement on the 360 side of things.

The PS3 is being hammered by people in the know

Hehe, I know I know.

I've definitley considered a Wii, and will probably get my brother to get one ;)
Having read all the Previews of the Wii games there's no doubt its the most innovative of the 3 and will probably end up having the easiest to play hardest to master, fun games, but for now I'm sticking to PS3, it got what I want from a games console.

I've checked out some previews of the PS3, the graphics are awesome. I really wouldn't mind trying it out. Supes, enjoy paying that bond off. I'm not against gaming consoles at all really.

The thing that bugs me quite a bit about the PS3 though, is you'll have to relearn how to use a controller. (the motion sensors) I know it was designed for natural movement. It's still something that will take a while to adapt too. I prefer the old mouse and "WASD" layout any day :p

Heh, sorry if I come across as a bit agro Supes, i've been watching IT/gaming Sales sharks selling hyped snake oil to people for too long.

If you're dead keen on the PS3 it is definitely you perogative, what I would suggest though, is to give it a chance to get into the market, it's I good thing it's coming to Europe late, and don't only obsess over the PS3. Take a while and go investigate the upcoming 360 titles as well. Have a balanced reason for wanting to purchase something not just OMG "King Ken says it's the Uber l337 Rox0r and 360 be teh sux!". I'm not saying you do, but there's a lot of fanboys out there.

No worries doobiwan, you are right I should wait a bit (but I am a geek who needs tech), so far tho I want a PS3.

And I'm definitley not gonna listen to whatever King Ken says just cause he says it ;)

:D

heh heh, King Ken and Queen Kaz?

According to him he's the ruler of the world and you owe him $600 and a kiss of his feet.

Ken Kataguri is the Head of Sony's Game division, Kaz Hirai is a VP of sorts, (SP for both) I'm not sure of exact titels. Between them they've done more to destroy Sony PR in the last year than Microsoft could ever have dreamed of doing. He's come up with duzi quotes, I think www.Wii60.com has a few of them.
like "I think the PS3 is too cheap", "Microsoft is not a technology company", "It's not a games console it's a computer".
Kaz is my Fav though "Next Gen doesn't start until we say it does!" and my all time favourite:

"RRIIIIIIDDDGGGEEEE RAAAAACCCEEEERRRR!!!!!"

Hey guys. I've just played on a PS3!!!

It was life-altering and I feel like a different person. I now see colours more brightly and everything smells more beautiful. I felt like a God playing it while I cried with joy.

I could feel the power of the multi-core processor humming through my body as it tickled my blood and brain. It was magnificent!

The controller was like holding a warm, soft-toilet roll, dear Lord... it was good. The buttons were as soft as a women's nipple and I truly felt alive.

Yes it is true. I spread no lies. This was only at the Loading screen...

...I passed out when the game loaded.

Not! The PS3 is overpriced!
