Hi there

I have a problem with my ps3 connected to my pc screen. whenever I connect my ps3 to my pc monitor my games looks like it's got no anti aliasing applied to it. The image looks a bit jerky but whenever I connect it to my Sony Bravia 40" HD ready TV it looks way better.

my pc screen is the ACER V233H

im having a similar problem actually.. i dont think my issue is anti aliasing tho cause my edges as nice and smooth..
i seem to get blotchy shades of grey, like where the lighting is changing.. this is on my 32" mecer tv however, its perfect on my 40" bravia.
same story for both my ps3 and xbox 360.
thing is ive had this tv for years and i cant remember it happening before. could this be the low contrast ratio of 800:1 ?
if it is then surely it would be the same now as the day i got it? and i don't recall it being like this...

Maybe Sony made the PS3 looks better on a sony bravia TV cause they want sony to be parted with sony.

Check if you people have HDCP compatible screens. That way you know if the graphics are being upscaled or not.

Nelis, I first had to use my 360 on a PC monitor back in the day and it was the same for me, the jaggies and low res are way more prominent on PC monitors. Switched to an HDTV and it's very different.

I could switch to my monitor right now and be shocked at the visuals. Very noticeable if you've ever game'd on a PC for a few years. I guess it has something to do with how a TV works, perhaps a blur filter built-in of some sorts, not in the mood to google.

Upscaling will do jack **** to your game's visuals. It's not a PC game.

Ok should I try to save some money and get a decent TV.

Stupid question but when you swap your PS3 from your TV to your PC monitor, you do change the resolution on the PS3 hey? And are you using the same cables?

I have used my PS3 on my Samsung 23.3" a couple of times and although you can notice there is a quality difference in the textures etc, the XMB and movies etc all look perfect.

Console games are made at HD/sub-HD resolutions. Very few games are full-hd:whistle:

I know this issue all too well.

I have a 32" 720p Sony Bravia and XBOX & PS3 look great.
Thought let me see the amazingness of 1080P on my old 26" Samsung and it looked shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit

ok so I should go for a HD TV then. Never thought a HD TV will make that much difference.

I think a lot can be said for how close/far you are sitting from the monitor, in most cases you'll find you are sitting between 2-3 feet from a computer monitor whereas you could be sitting as far as 8 feet from a TV.

I'm using a P2350G on the xbox 360 and the quality is right up there with the best HDTV's. There's also no blurring when watching videos. I guess that's the difference between 2ms and 5ms. Most HDTV's are 8ms.
