PS3 Online advice about connections needed!!!

I currently have a shaped 384 adsl connection with a 2gig cap (do broadband 2)...i connect to ps3 online and games lag ...call of duty 4 lags a bit...(like shooting someone n finding out he aint really there cause of stupid lag n then getting killed)...i was thinking of getting the 4mb line from telkom (do broadband 3) ... would this guarantee to help my problem? or does anyone have alternate solutions to my problem?

THX PEPPERCORNS!!! :D my NAT type was on type 3 but i changed it to type 2...i tried call of duty again ...i still got a lag but im sure that still cause of my 384 connection...glad to hear yours is working perfectly , btw is your account shaped or unshaped ?

if anyone else has anything to add or got other opinion about my prob pls let me know...thx ppl:)
 
My IS account is shaped ;)

So yeah, it must be your line speed then. You should try out 512k and see if that does any better for you, if not, then make the push to 4mb and enjoy :D
 
i think ima go straight for the 4mb since its much more economical...its like about R96 more only ...thx again much appreciated :):):)
 
its your ping time that causes the lag, if you playing internationally you'll get lag regardless, but most times its playable. If you play with local ppl it will feel like you playing on a normal network
 
The problem might be related to the upload speed of the 384 line.

Hey man :)

i also play on PSN versus europeans on my 384k line, generally CoD4 or Warhawk. i have an unshaped account(i used to play WoW thats why :p) and i get pings ranging from 200-400ms which is ok for a game like warhawk, but sort of unnaceptable for a game like CoD4. any1 care to explain to me what NAT 2-3 is ??

uhm i think the best thing to do is to research NAT type if u want a proper definition cause i dont really know wat it is...try google search and check other forums for solutions...im on NAT type 2 tho...i have the 4mb but a shaped account...smackdown vs Raw does not work properly online...hardly playable (but i think wen i played the host had a bad connection)...can anyone tell me if they ever played this game smoothly online?

and wen it comes to Call of Duty 4...i still kind of lag...and sometimes i disconnect temporarily(this happens with fifa as well)...does anyone know if this could be because i got a router and connect with my ps3 wirelessly(my connection status is 100% always)...i tried with a cable connection and didnt disconnect once but i didnt play long enough to be sure if this remedies my problems...

if anyone has any comments or solutions pls let me know:)

p.s ... i borrowed the fifa game from someone just to go online..im 100% PES fan!!!:D:D:D the ultimate soccer game :)
