data card solution + telkom routers

telkom routers are really cool. easy to use. small and work fine. plus pay the R400 if ur a noob, like me and they'll come set it up for you real quick.

the trick o always get 3g speeds off ur data card is to creat a new data profile in the programme and allow it to only use 3g. if you select prefer 3g, then it jumps onto gprs in weak 3g areas. use the only 3g profile for gaming and ur as good as gone....

yes cant i just use the browser, as i will not have a pc available and the laptop i have sold ?

The PS3 browser seems to handle javascript and flash pretty well with everything I've tried so far so I don't see why it shouldnt be able to browse a basic router configuration page.

AFAIK most routers have DHCP enabled by default; so the PS3 should be able to obtain an IP from the router, remember to use the network cable for the initial setup of course (if its a wireless router).

Woh, that sounds pretty steep! I would think you can get a decent Wireless ADSL router for around R1000. Check Digital Planet for reference prices.

OT: doobi, awesome rounds last night dude. was sweet.

just regarding PS3 (disclaimer: the following comments are in no way intended to start a flame war, and is in the interest of educating the public)... how is it's live feature? xbl is quite good, easy to use, intuitive, and best of all, there's always online people available (especially sa).
how does the PS3 compare? online gaming is one of the most important factors IMO.

ok....got my router up and running, only thing i wanna know is how to read my usage on the saix site....... Also how far will they let me go over my 3 gig cap
