Can you suggest a good router, and thinking of getting the do broadband 3 what you guys think?........................

Gigabyte is an excellent brand. (if you can get hold of them!)
Zyxel is also decent.

Not really a fan of D-link but they do work.

I have the Web Africa DoBroadband 3 equivalent.

ADSL 4Mbps - 10gig Cap All-in-one. No talking to telkom by me. THANK GOD!
Cost me R890 p/m.

Wireless router not wireless internet...

I recommend Web Africa as well, also if you are playing local people a 384 shaped line is fine, however if you want to play international games then you need an unshaped line and the faster the better.

You are going to struggle setting up a router without a PC though.

I guess it is possible to browse to the router using your PS3 and setting it up that way..

It should work, however i don't think the guys that make routers really expected many people to buy the and not own a PC?

Most Routers have a web based interface, so you can set it up with the PS3's browser, you shouldn't need a PC.

On router brands - I find Billion are good value for money and they have great local support, but Netgear, Linksys & Belkin also all come very highly recommended.

From an ISP perspective WebAfrica are excellent, probably the best service in the business, although I've just moved to cybersmart for cost reasons and they're also not bad.

The easiest way to set up the router might be to get a buddy over with a laptop, using a real keyboard would make things easier.

I have a Billion 5200S ADSL modem and a Linksys WRT54GS wireless/4 port wired router, works well for all eventualities and I can simply slap an HSDPA/iBurst/Wimax or whatever modem into it and not need more expensive hardware (except the modem of course).

I use one for my online Xbox gaming and the thing is fine....

It crashes sometimes (about twice a month) but apart from that I have had no problems.

I was running my ps3 through my laptop as well with a vodacom card, but signal is very poor where i live, thats why doing the router thing which to be honest am not pretty clued up on....

telkom wireless router works fine with the ps3. you need a pc/laptop to set up the configurations on the router though.
