It seems like "old" stuff when I still hacked my phat PS3. I don't think there is a way to use any means to hack/mod a PS3 with firmware higher than 3.55 (could be 3.61 - it's been a while). If you have firmware higher than that, you need to downgrade with progskeet (pic below) first as far as I know (mentioned in this thread)

To hack a console thats is above version 3.55 you need to get a hardmod chip thingy for it.

Whaaaaaat??!!! I kept on checking for a few months and realised that they might not be able to hack 3.6x which my wife upgraded mine to. When it was quiet for about 6 months I thought phuk it, I need money and this thing is just gather dust

It is out for 4.30 but you still need 3.55 to do this.

I know of a person who does it in Cape Town. You pay like R250 and take a external hard drive to him and he upgrades your PS3 and fills up your external hard drive with something like 80 games. Doesn't sound like he is doing this legally, but I know of people who do it through him. Also, I'm not sure if you can play online if you do it via him. think he jailbreaks the PS
