PS3 UK Price

I'm guessing probably closer to R5500-R6000. They might say ok it's R4740 in the UK, seeing as most people can't afford it anyway leaving only wealthy buyers, why not push the price up by a thousand or two since it won't hurt them much. Sad but true, that seems to be the mentality of SA retailers. My opinion, they can take it and stuff it. R4740 for a games console is still way too much. Rather invest in a decent PC with a decent graphics card.

But a PC with that type of specs will cost you a whole lot more, but then again the games are usually cheaper

The 360 is $200 cheaper and is retailing here between R4000-R4700
so you can expect R5500-R6500.

Yeh, that's certainly a hefty price.

However if you have only gaming in mind.. then a R5500 PS3 will beat the pants off a R5500 PC :(

So while it's expensive, it's still cheeper than buying a pc that would match the probable performance of a PS3

*edit* Yo guys post too quick :) i see some1 has said the same thing above

Yea, but just remember one thing; you will havto play your fav FPS on a gamepad! :(

There is a keyboard addapter available for halo 2 on the xbox but its not like a pc mouse you still have the max rate and it still affects your presicion on the smaller movements.

I wish microsoft will just stop fing around and let me plug in my mouse and kb into my 360 and play my games like that.

You need to be in serious lack of a life if you need to spend R5500 on a piece of hardware dedicated to gaming. Whatever happened to the old days of the megadrive when gaming consoles cost R500. Or even when the original playstation came out costing R1500. While that may have been high at the time, it certainly wasn't aimed at a niche market. People could still afford it.

LOL no more like instead of trying to implement the current latest technology, they're trying to implement new technology straight away. With the PS the current technology at the time was cd-rom. With the PS2 it was dvd-rom. It kept prices down to a somewhat acceptable level while still providing reasonable market penetration. By implementing a technology that's not already commercially available, they effectively shot themselves in the foot. Prices of new technology are always going to be high initially. And they risk blu-ray not taking off the way they had hoped for.

I think the console is moving into the pc gaming realm. You see PC gaming has always pushed the envelope, but the last generation its been the console. But lets face it with premium pc graphics cards running into R4000+ costs you havto argue its still cheaper.

I think blu-ray might be the death of the ps3 thow, including that in the ps3 has seriously balooned the price.

When I got my mega drive, R500 was alot of bloody money.

Sony can keep their console.

What happens if Blu-Ray bombs out?

Look at the Wii for your gaming fix :D

I am afraid the nintendo Wii still looks like it belongs in the kids play room instead of the living room. Hopefully some 3rd party developers can come onboard and change this.

EGGZAKKERY ! Or even a bloodie light-pen dammit. I wonder how much it costs them to remove the built-in mouse functionality.

Which is exactly Nintendo's game launching the Wii probably between $200 and $250. And as my wife says, from a non-gamers perspective - it'll look a hell of a lot better in the lounge than a PS3 or 360, as well as offering casual gamings something they want to try.

if no mouse and keyboard then it sucks....:D

if got a ps2 and i still play more on my pc then on my ps2. a ps2 to me is for when you go on holiday and you cant pack your pc then for fun you take your ps2...:D

PS2 gathering dust, PSP is for family visits / road trips .....

PC is Main Hub.

Naah, Wii is calling me, those games i perv'd over as a kid like Sonic & Super Mario will be available for the Wii.
