PS3 vs XBOX360

In the past the blu-ray drives were the high weighing factor of the ps3 but blu-ray player prices are coming down and down, they really are not expensive anymore.

The Xbox 360 is known for better range of titles, then of course since you're going social I wouldnt rule out the factor of xbox having kinect...

Dont let the blu-ray be the deciding factor.

That's the only reason why I'm getting an Xbox again. I went through all the reviews for Kinect and PS Move games. Could only find one good review for Move and it was a golf game. Most of the Kinect games are getting good scores. It's no use that the Move controllers work very well, if you don't have games to back it up. And it's just too similar to the Wii.

Oh yes Stoner mentioned hdd sizes.

Remember a full xbox game install (and you dont need to do them) would be an absolute max of 8 gigs unless it was a multi-disc game. So you're looking at say 20 games installed at once (if they are all fullest) with room for 90 gigs of extra content, say 10 were saves...

A 250 gig hdd for xbox 360 is more than enough. The new xbox 360 S has the whole slimmer design, cooler quieter built in wifi deal so its not as if its feature lacking either.

As for quality and quantity, the PS3 has it all. If you are going to never use your PC for gaming at all, then Xbox 360 is a good console to have. If you are, then don't bother with it. On the other hand (imo) the PS3 has much better exclusives. The Xbox has.. well Gears and Forza? It also depends what you have played on PC so far, since that will decide on which games you will buy on Xbox and when you will get bored of it due to the lack of exclusives (this is happening to me).
K@k man, was Google too hard for you?

Anyway this already seems to have become a typical fanboy thread. It seems like objectivity no longer exists.

But there is one important thing to remember: Its so much cooler to tell everyone your bought a PS3 than an XBox :)

No it doesn't. You would come across as being a typical example of somebody who associates a gaming console with a playstation :P

You realize dal owns a xbox right?

Are you sure you are not the fanboy getting bent out of joint or what? :D
Nothing that anybody says on the interwebs is certain. He could just be saying that he owns one in order to push his view. His comments certainly don't appear to be objective.

It's interesting that the Xbox 360 advocates don't actually give any real reason for their statements.

OMG...Personal Preference perhaps?

@ OP

Check what games each console has, check which genres either console has more of, fiddle around with the controllers in <insert gaming store> and make a choice. Pretty much every input in this thread will be biased

XBOX 360 owner for 4 years here..

If I was looking at purchasing a console now, it'd be the PS3. The only reason I still have my Elite is that buying games and Guitar Hero (again) ontop of a new console, while I already have them, will be farking expensive. Main reasons for me getting a PS3 is the Blu-ray player and free online gaming (huge pluses). Also, I think the XBOX controller is better suited (and better weighted) for gaming. The times I've played PS3 I always find the controller is too light and the analog sticks are in weird positions for my thumbs when playing FPS, but hey, if I played more PS3 I'd get used to it.

Both of them connect without hassle to a PC so they can stream media. Kinect will be useless until next year sometime, for the simple fact that there aren't enough good games and the FPS controls suck (that will change). Move, well, I don't know much about it other than its a wand (ala Wii) and it will also be useless until next year.

Exclusives are hit and miss. Neither console has better exclusives imo; I'd say they're pretty even. And right now I'd take Uncharted over Halo any day.

So search around for the better deal. Its the holiday season and I'm sure you'll find great deals on either console, so go with one that fits your budget. Take a walk into one of those specialist gaming stores with consoles out where you can play them, and spend a few hours on each.

mmmig, any reason as to why you say this?? PSN is free to play online where Xbox Live , from what if heard, is going to be priced @ R599 per year. correct me if i'm wrong please
quality online exsperience comes at a price.

Quite funny: An Xbox fan callin a PS3 owner a fanboi!

Yes! The is such a thing as an XBox fanboi! Theres alot of them arounf here!

Okay both console owner here...

Xbox 360 has better controller, weighted right and buttons feel great, minus the useless d-pad
Live is superior in everyway to PSN no matter how much someone says it is good cause it is free, simple things like XMB talking isn't even working
PS3 is a far superior media machine with regards to most formats, it's upscaling on DVD's does beat the 360's hands down, oh and Blu-ray is nice
PS3 also has a far superior audio codec built into it, games do sound superior and so does movies etc...
Years ago I would've said the Xbox UI was better, but it isn't, the PS3 one is simple and easy and works
Achievements still feel better getting then trophies ;-)
PS3 has a decent built in internet browser though it is slow
Honestly both consoles are tied on the exclusives so it doesn't really matter reason I got both is cause I like games.

Must. not. jump. in!

So if people talk badly about the xbox or say the ps3 looks better then they are biased and lying?

Yes, and vice versa. Some things are a matter of personal preference, and therefore their opinion is biased. There is nothing wrong with admitting to bias, as long as it is not stated as fact.

You'll find that the most sensible replies have all stated that he should test out the games available on both consoles first hand, because our preferences may not coincide with his.

There are two facts here - the PS3 is a better media centre and the Xbox is focused more on gaming. Live is better than PSN, even though it is paid, because its online community is so much larger. The XBL Marketplace also has far more available for download.
