Last month we reported that Woolworths was entering the gaming market with some of the most competitive console pricing in SA. At the time, Woolworths was selling the Xbox 360 Elite at below its recommended retail price, but the PS3 Slim pricing was inline with other retailers.
It will please gamers to learn that the retailer will be dropping the price of its PS3 250Gb Slim console from R4499 to
R4299. What makes the deal particularly attractive is that if consumers buy the console using their Woolworths Visa card, they receive a R200 Woolworths gift card which can be used to buy anything from any Woolworths store.
This effectively reduces the cost of the PS3 250GB Slim to
R4099, making it around R400 cheaper than the cheapest competing retailers.
Most retailers are selling the PS3 Slim 120GB for R3799. This makes the 250GB PS3 Slim a very attractive prospect at just R300 more.
Woolworths will continue to sell the PS3 Slim 120GB for
R3799, the Xbox 360 Elite for R3299 and the Nintendo Wii for R2499. All console purchases made using a Woolworths Visa card receive the
R200 gift card, making Woolworths one of most competitive console resellers in SA.
The following Woolworths stores will are currently selling consoles and games, and will be implementing the new PS3 Slim 250GB price cut tomorrow:
V&A, Tyger Valley, Canal Walk, Walmer , Gateway, East Rand Mall , Eastgate , Sandton, Fourways, Melrose Arch, Menlyn and Brooklyn.
