Its impossible, well not impossible but unlikely for a set to be 1080i and not capable of 720p :/

unfortunately in my case it's quite likely I have an HDTV "ready" CRT which does 480p 576p and 1080i (by 540 line interleave) with no 720. Unfortunately it only supports 1080 @ 50hz, which I can get via the 360 test and it looks awesome, but I can't run games at that rate, it must be 60Hz
