Hi Guys,

So managed to get a PS4 Slim 500GB this past weekend and am having issues with the download speed of games that I have bought from the PSN Store.

I have a 100mbps line and on my pc get speeds of around 97mbps.

When downloading a PS4 Game such as Fifa 17, it downloads at just over 1mbps.

I have no idea as to why this is happening as when I "Test my network" I am getting speeds varying from 20mbps to 97mbps" - I have read that Sony's estimates are rather awful.

I am using ethernet btw.

If anyone has a solution to this, please help me out. Ive tried so many things to no avail - The fastest download speed I get is around 6mbps when downloading PS4 games from the PSN Store.

Cheers!

I heard sometimes PSN servers are just slow in general.

I highly doubt your ISP throttles your fiber connection. Maybe just check with them?

Game updates are downloaded directly from publishers, and not go through PSN.

I always have issues with downloads from EA. Trying pausing the download and then continuing.

Use a proxy and download the updates to your PC and then to your PS4. I use that method for my large downloads (20+ gigs). I get full dl speed on my PC and also my console doesnt need to be powered on

Please could you explain how you go about doing this? Would really appreciate your help.

Put it in Rest Mode if you want it to download faster.

I have no source for this other than looking at my Router WAN graphs while doing so and seeing it spike up. I suspect that the PS4 limits it's download speed on purpose maybe to allow for games to have priority.

This doesn't seem to take into account where you are playing games or not but I have the same behaviour on my 20MB line.

Obviously I can't say how that will scale on 100MB fibre, but if your Router does provide an input/output graph it would be very interesting to see how your results compare.

Mine being 20MB my peak line speed is about 1.8-1.9 MB/sec. I see that in Rest Mode but in normal mode it's also capped at about 1MB/sec.

I know this does not help but you could always join the pc master race :p:D

Funnily enough I just bought a PS4 to move away from the PC master race, I've been playing on PC for the past decade and its just too expensive to maintain and upgrade so decided to move across to PS4.

But console is R800+ per game?

I get exactly the same, although it's stuck at 4Mbps no matter what I do.

Sucks balls when you want to download a big game and it takes days.
