I have heard from some people than I should specify a DNS on my router. Would this help at all/ and if so, what DNS should I specify on my router?

I've never needed to specify DNS, and I am sceptical about cases where DNS needs to be specified. IMO it should always be set to be automatically obtained from the ISP. Besides other cases where certain DNSes are used to block adult content, aid streaming services, etc.

Then again I use a faultless ISP as my main connection, which might be why I've never had to specify DNS, and therefore have the belief I do.
 
when is your notice period up ? if the issue isnt resolved by that time then just move isp's
if it does get resolved and you still happy with mweb then cancel the cancellation

in the interim maybe get a capped account from the other isp just to game with

My Notice period is up on the 29th February. So still a long time. If it does not get fixed soon, I probably will have to get a capped account
 
The account is not performing 100% as advertised and we can say its account related. Because well the other isp accounts works.. Maybe mweb can be nice and refund you or give you test capped account it won't cost them a lot and you will be happy :)

Spent from 20:30 till 22:00 last night trying to log into the game. No joy. Each time the connection to the server is lost before I can even get in.

I did a speedtest, and was getting 2.1mbps dl speed on my ps4.
switched on my pc, ran speedtest again on ps4, still 2.1mbps.
Immediately after run speedtest on PC, I get 3.5mbps.

Funny. When I was on a Webafrica account, I was getting 3.5mbps on my ps4.

The network test is where I get my speedtest result.

Have you tested over wifi, without the LAN cable plugged in? Assuming you have decent signal?

Have you tried using other DNSes like Google's 8.8.8.8 primary and 4.4.4.4 secondary?

I have tested over WiFi, same results.
Have not tested other DNSes as atm, it gets dns settings from the router

Please try them. I would also ask MWEB Guy (or call support) if they ever ask people to define DNSes, instead of obtaining them automatically. I don't think they do.
 
My router obtains dns automatically. But with ps4, if I put in a static IP, I need to define the dns to the router

Will do, just waiting to see what @MWEBHelp has to say about the network test he asked me to run. But honestly, just looking at the results, it is clear there is major shaping happening
 
WOW, DL speed on the PS4 has now dropped to 1.2mb/s while PC is still hitting 3.8mb/s

Yes, MWEB is for gaming. NOT. If anybody else reads this, stay away from MWEB if you want to game!!!!!
