Monopolies aren't good. But the only reason Sony will get a monopoly here is because Microsoft are being stubborn and downright stupid with their offering. So I really do hope they catch a wake-up call and fix the XBox issues before launch.
 
Ok, so one thing that really stood out for me was the claim that MS will be able to utilize the power of cloud computing in the years to come to enhance games. Is this actually possible? What I'm asking is, once the Ps4's hardware has reach it's peak, will those cloud services allow the Xbox to then offer better gameplay etc?

If yes, then the ps3 would be better in the short term and Xbox better in the long term.

Im not impressed by either of the consoles looks. I think my Ps3 slim(2nd gen) looks better than that, and it's smaller:erm:

Well I for one hope the new PS controller will be more comfortable than the current one. That's one thing MS did better than Sony with the current models :/
 
PS4 is looking like the attractive option here, will do well to replace my PS3 and Xbox 360. Quite happy about the price point and no need for online authentication etc.

Not a huge fan of the looks of the PS4 or the Xbox One, but then again they aren't bat all all. After a few days next to my HD-PVR, AMP and media PC I probably won't even notice the console. :/

Quite true. Just reliased the square look is a good thing. Will fit in perfectly on top/under a Bluray player etc.

My point exactly over in the Customer Avatar thread. Under the proposed new rules (1000 posts or one year), you would be able to change it yourself.

PS4 looks like a better deal than XBox - I can guess what Father Xmas is going to be asked for.

Hope there are some good deals on trading in old PS3 games though.
 
This has made my decision much easier. PS4 it is.

MS have only themselves to blame, and unless they offer what Sony does, they're not going to see a cent of my cash. The controller alone isn't enough to sway me.
 
There will be 3rd party controllers for the PS4 that look and feel like the Xbox One controller shortly after launch, its almost a guarantee

I don't get this. The Playstation controllers have had the analogue sticks positioned where they are, for 16 years now, and have won awards for their design and impact. The opposite of the Xbox controller- IGN's "Blunder of the Year" when it was launched.
