My first reaction to the PS+ membership required for online/Multiplayer - NOOoooooOooooOooOoo....
Then I thought about it.
I thought our PS3 was "just okay" until we got PS+. Suddenly there were new games to try out for free every month. The PS3 became more appealing. Then I got God Of War free through PS+. It was a game I would never have considered playing of my own accord, but I absolutely loved it. Played it through to the end, including the challenges. We got discounts on other games. I played Journey and Flower and all sorts of other awesome games that I never knew existed.
So if I were to get a PS4, the PS+ thing won't bother me really.
On the topic of controllers: I have a PS controller for the PS3, and I have an XBox controller for my PC. I have never had any issue switching between the two, and I do not find one any more comfortable or better to use than the other. Of course, if you've played 6 hours straight of anything, your hands are gonna start to cramp.
We use our PS3 as our primary media device. We watch BluRays and DVDs on it, and we link it to the PC via WiFi to watch everything else. We like the PS media server interface for navigating and watching movies and series. We did not have to buy a separate remote for it. I love the PS3, and the PS4 sounds like a really great device.
The DRM-free free-trade indie-supportive attitude of Sony takes the cake though. Great specs at an awesome price? No contest. It's Playstation all the way for me.
