Those arguments are perfect, that I accept without issue. It is also why I may get an Xbox one (not calling it xbone). I just dislike it when I see half assed reasons that make no sense.

Though... If you saw the latest steam update, you may really be able to do everything from big picture mode soon enough! Why there is a music player, valve only knows.

Still, not giving up my us live account anytime soon. Its still cheaper than buying local Xbox games

Steam for windows I imagine you can build some hacks into.

SteamOS is my real interest though and there will be some exclusivity involved there.

I think timed exclusives at worst. The developers would have to then forgoe a windows version which wouldn't be the best idea until SteamOS grows.

SteamOS is just Linux in the end. It would be funny actually if they tried to keep Linux steam games locked only to their os. Linux guys would laugh and make a way to play the exclusives on any version of Linux.

I can already put the SteamOS session into Ubuntu

But not everything is in Steam so at some point you are forced to whom out a mouse and keyboard.

It's not a universal platform like a console.

While I agree on the "not a universal platform" point, you can add any games to the steam launcher... "+ Add A game" at bottom left, then "Add a non-steam game". I've never used it, but have noticed it's there.

Yeah I mean rather games that are Direct3D based and won't make the switch to OpenGL for Linux.

You'll lose out being on SteamOS, not the other way around.

Bear in mind that the Steamboxes can also run Windows, and with Satya Nadella doing deals and lots of scenarios being eligible for free versions, interesting things could still happen here. All you really need is MS to give OEMs a free copy of Windows for Steambox that can boot Steam in to Big Screen mode and SteamOS is pretty much dead in the water.

Yup, however if it boots up in Steam and you never see Windows, pretty much nobody will care if it's Windows or not, they'll just want the version of Steambox that can "play all the games"
