PS5

Anyone know if using a 3 prong ground power cord with the PS5 would cause any issues or damage?

My stock cable is super loose and I do have a C8 cord laying around but it's a 3 prong and not the standard 2 prong.

On a side note, is there any reason Sony has shipped all their consoles with an ungrounded 2 prong instead of a 3 prong?

The earth pin will simply connect to nothing.

Most electronics don’t have an earth and only use a 2-wire connection.

Thanks for the info. Looks like I don't need to head out tomorrow for a 2 pin afterall:thumbsup:.

So if the 3rd ground pin doesn't actually connect to anything, would that mean that there are no benefits such as better surge handling etc...?

Correct it will make absolutely no difference other than sparing you a plug point.

Not that an earth really does anything for surges anyway.

That looks so much better than the old model, and a little storage bump as well. Noticed that the digital went up $50 though
I’ll be grabbing this once I’ve moved to UK next year. Giving away my current one.

Not much of a "Slim", this is what the phat PS5 should of been like at launch.

The slim should of been smaller.
Agreed and that bump on the disc version looks so out of proportion and unappealing.

I hope you’ll continue posting here once you leave, this forum wouldn’t be the same without you. Your insights into things are most valuable.

Please can I have your PlayStation. Give it to me.

Sony should hire you chaps then, what with all your design and engineering expertise ;)
The guy who designed the current PS5 chassis is a moron. It isn’t some magical device, it’s a locked down PC and nothing more, you could always fit those same components into less space with better cooling.

Yes and no.

Damn, another expert for Sony to hire.

But bear in mind these "morons" designed a machine that is at least the equal of "the most powerful console in the world" :)

The bundles here are crazy, there's bascially a new one every month. I'm sure the new version will have plenty to look out for.

Currently you can pick up the EA FC24 one for £400 (R9500)

South Africa is very limited when it comes to consumer goods when compared to the UK. From kids foods and toys, to sweets, electronics, cars, etc - it's all very limited.

It’s a semi-custom design from AMD. Sony made (requested) some tweaks and designed the now redundant storage drive.

Not a criticism of Sony really, just their chassis guy.

Ok. Far be it from me to comment on the team that spent years designing this, versus your knowledge.
