PS5

Just watched it, was good and fascinating to see what goes into making games like these.
So we are getting a TLOU3 at some point :)

Is it on the new update? Just over 9GB

As for your question, most likely yes but that will be 2027.

Also, did you notice in the trailer for Grounded 2, the PS5 devkit? Back in early 2020 people were speculating that, that specific design was going to be actual PS5 console

Yea its on the update but the YouTube one is in 4k so I watched it there. At the end he says he has the concept for tlou3. But yea will probably only be a few years from now!

PlayStation Vita 2 in development according to reputable leaker

A new PlayStation Vita handheld could be in development, according to leaks from Moore’s Law is Dead. The leaker claims that the new handheld chip is currently being designed by AMD.

It’s been a while since Sony released a new handheld, with powerful native rendering capabilities. The PlayStation Vita, released in 2011 was the last device that Sony released in this category.

The company did make a return to the handheld arena in 2023 with the PlayStation Portal, but that was a cloud-based handheld, which is not capable of running native rendering, like the Steam Deck and other modern devices.

Now, leaker ‘Moore’s Law is Dead’ claims that a “Vita 2”, or a handheld destined to succeed the PlayStation handheld legacy of the PSP and Vita, is in development. Since this is the first report that we have heard of its kind, it’s best to take it with a massive grain of salt, as it’s specified that the handheld is still in very early development.

Moore’s Law is Dead may be an unfamiliar name to many gaming enthusiasts, as many of his previous leaks have come in the form of leaks from Nvidia, AMD, and Intel. He most recently correctly leaked the price of the RTX 40 Super series lineup months ahead of launch, so his track record is generally good.

In a video, Moore’s Law is Dead claims that a potential PlayStation Vita 2 handheld is in a “high-level design” phase. He states “…it is being worked on by AMD, that money has exchanged hands, that Sony isn’t just asking AMD, they are paying for active development right now.”

Other details such as design and a full greenlight for the product are still far from being finalized, and a product borne from the results of the development of this chip may never see the light of day.

Watched it early this morning, its like an emotional trip.

Who knew they took inspiration from Bloodborne, would never have guessed

Finally. They shouldn't have wasted their time with that Portal nonsense, and just made this from the start and given it cloud capabilities...

As much as I love BB I’m super glad they didn’t go the melee focused route. The gunplay is so good in TLOU2. It’s essential to the game for me.

I hope this fits the topic and has @Splinter approval. Didn't see anyone mention this earlier.

Horizon Forbidden West Complete Edition comes to PC on March 21

Horizon Forbidden West Complete Edition on PC features unlocked frame rates, customizable graphics settings and a broad range of performance-enhancing technologies, including NVIDIA DLSS 3 upscaling and frame generation. AMD FSR and Intel XeSS are also supported. For players with high-end hardware and extra headroom, image-enhancing NVIDIA DLAA is also available. The game leverages DirectStorage for quick loading times on PC.

Source.

I'm so pumped. I've been waiting patiently for it to come to PC. I played the first one when I had my ps4.

I won't preorder because I was bitten badly with no man's sky, but if performance reviews come out and they say it runs well, Sony will get my money

One issue I have with this over the Portal is that they’ll now inevitably sell a different version of everything for separate costs rather than having one universal license across hardware.

It’s something I’ve become so used to with Apple and somewhat Microsoft that I can’t see myself buying back into that **** again.

The hardware your enable your access to one ecosystem, not run a different ecosystem per platform.

I’m open to being pleasantly surprised and will buy in on day one if it does in fact support cross device license sharing and is more of a “take your PS5 with you” than a dedicated and separate platform.

I didn't like it as much as the first one. It didn't feel as engaging and didn't suck me into the world as much. Too much politics that's somehow more important than saving the world. Still a good game though but could have been so much better...

EXCLUSIVE | Microsoft plans Starfield launch for PlayStation 5

For many weeks now, rumours have persisted regarding Microsoft’s intentions to release a number of 1st party games – namely Hi-Fi Rush and Sea of Thieves – on rival platforms. According to our sources, who have asked to remain anonymous because they were not authorised to talk about company plans, that list of games also includes Bethesda Game Studio’s Starfield.

Starfield released back in August of 2023 to fairly positive reception (despite the narrative that now exists online), and was the biggest Bethesda game launch of all time, surpassing 6 million players within a week of release.

Now it looks as though Microsoft are planning on bringing Betheda’s newest RPG universe to an entirely new platform – PlayStation 5.

According to sources, we understand that currently Microsoft are planning a launch for Starfield on PlayStation 5 post the release of the already announced “Shattered Space” expansion for Xbox and PC, which is on target to arrive at some point later this year. We’ve also been informed that Microsoft have made additional investment into PlayStation 5 dev kits to support ongoing development efforts – adding further fuel to the fire.

As the already existing rumours have suggested, the idea of bringing 1st party titles to competing console platforms marks a massive change in strategy for Microsoft and from what I understand, it’s not been without fierce internal debate on this new direction. Releasing Starfield on PlayStation 5 contradicts the original statement around exclusivity made by President of Xbox Sarah Bond, during the Xbox and Bethesda Games Studios summer showcase of 2021.

Microsoft weighs launching Indiana Jones on the PS5

Indiana Jones and the Great Circle could arrive on PS5 months after the Xbox launch.

Bethesda’s upcoming Indiana Jones game is also tentatively set to launch on Sony’s PlayStation 5 console. We got our first glimpse of Indiana Jones and the Great Circle during Microsoft’s Xbox Developer Direct event last month, where it was announced for Xbox and PC. A source familiar with Microsoft’s plans tells The Verge that Bethesda is also considering bringing Indiana Jones and the Great Circle to PS5.
A new multi-platform approach for certain Xbox games is emerging inside Microsoft, we’re told, with the company weighing up which titles will remain exclusive and others that will appear on Switch or PS5 in the future. Indiana Jones appears to be part of this new wave of multi-platform games.
While Bethesda will launch its Indiana Jones game first as an Xbox console exclusive, it’s currently set to have a rather short period of exclusivity we’re told. A release for PS5 is being considered for some months later, with Bethesda tentatively targeting a December 2024 launch for the Xbox and PC versions.

I see people are losing their marbles over this, but I will believe it when I see it.

IF it turns out to be true, I don't even see the big deal...we know from the FTC docs that these games were all in development for PS5 anyway before MS took over and canned them. So in my mind it wouldn't be a port from the ground up but rather just restarting dev on those builds and merging with whatever has been done since. So in the bigger picture, a relatively small amount of dev time for a potential large return on investment.

In my opinion it can only be a good thing if Starfield and Indiana Jones etc go to all consoles. On XBox you can then play it at launch on Game Pass and those on PS5 can buy the game and still play it. So everyone can play the games and both Sony and MS make money. Win-Win for everyone.

Now bring GT7 to Steam.

Exactly.

Timed release means everyone gets to play and Game Pass / Xbox folks still get there first.

A future where you can choose either console and get to play all the games is the one we really need.

It's not different than Sony releasing games on PC.

Thanks, but no thanks.

But seems like MS somehow need to recoup all those tens of billions being splashed. And I have a feeling they have been running GP at quite a loss for quite a while now. I recall that the break even subscription level needed to be 50m, but they haven't released their subscription numbers for 2 years now?

I stand to be corrected on all of this though.
