I wonder how many folks gave them their money before Raru's "allocation ran out". The fun they going to have getting refunds...

Those of you with the Sony Pulse 3D headset, are you happy with it? I’m tempted to get it, but want some real world opinions

Yep. I stated some issues with it a while ago, but that was because I didn't understand how to balance it between mic and headphones.

Having said that, I haven't experienced what folks who play Returnal have had to say about it.

Can’t say I’m familiar with the Returnal issues, but from the reviews it looks to be a good buy.

In case anyone was wondering when the next batch of consoles land in SA, it's on Monday. BT will start shipping them out later next week

PS5 Console Exclusive Forspoken Aims to Be the Best Looking Open World Game Ever

Square Enix has lofty ambitions for Forspoken, its new PlayStation 5 console exclusive action role-playing game. Speaking as part of a puff piece for AMD’s FidelityFX Super Resolution technology, Luminous Productions studio boss Takeshi Aramaki explained that the developer’s goal is “to achieve the highest quality visuals ever seen in an open world game”. Given the context of the video, Aramaki goes on to explain how the DLSS alternative is helping the team to achieve that.

To simplify an extremely complicated algorithm, FidelityFX Super Resolution utilises machine learning to reconstruct lower resolution images and output them with more clarity. This means that, in essence, games can achieve 4K without demanding the computational power required to output the resolution natively. This gives more headroom to developers to create bigger, denser worlds, while still ensuring good image quality at 60 frames-per-second.

“I believe AMD's GPU Open philosophy is raising the entire gaming industry's technical standards, which in turn benefits all players,” Aramaki added. “We can't wait for players to get their hands on Forspoken and experience the next-gen graphics that were made possible by FSR.” Assuming you can’t wait, though, there are some (very) brief new gameplay tidbits interspersed throughout the video above, which should whet your appetite ahead of the title’s next big showcase.

Where can I get a catalogue of games available on PS Plus or elsewhere?

Kids are 6 and 10 so they will be hogging the console most of the time should I decide to get one.

Sony Acquisition of Bluepoint Games Supposedly Leaked by Image Mistake

Jeez, you wait weeks for Sony to do... something, and then it decides to drop (well, more like leak) several megatons out of the blue on a sunny Tuesday morning. Having already confirmed the acquisition of Returnal developer Housemarque, it would appear that the Japanese giant's immediate plans don't stop there.

When the Housemarque news broke, PlayStation Japan somehow managed to upload the wrong image on Twitter. Instead of showing that Housemarque is now part of PlayStation Studios, the image highlights Bluepoint Games. The tweet was quickly deleted and replaced.

This heavily suggests that another acquisition announcement is incoming, with remake specialists Bluepoint Games also being snapped up by Sony. And again, it's a buy that makes total sense — Bluepoint is the studio behind the fantastic Shadow of the Colossus (PS4) and Demon's Souls (PS5) revivals.

So there you have it. If this really is happening, and it's not just some kind of insane mistake, then we'll probably get confirmation soon. We'll update this article when that occurs, or if we hear anything more about what's going on.

Ghost of Tsushima: Director’s Cut rated by the ESRB, even though it hasn’t been announced

Could this be related to rumors of an expansion?

It seems a new version of Ghost of Tsushima is on the way, at least according to the Entertainment Software Ratings Board. Ghost of Tsushima: Director’s Cut is listed on the video game ratings organization’s website despite the fact Sony hasn’t officially announced it yet.

Without that announcement, it’s not quite clear what a Director’s Cut of the 2020 open-world adventure might include. Ghost of Tsushima got a multiplayer expansion, a new game plus mode, and a next-gen upgrade since its launch last July. But all of that content was released for free.

Fans have also speculated that a PC version of the game could be on the way, similar to the PC launches of PlayStation exclusives like Days Gone and Horizon Zero Dawn. Yet the ESRB listing only mentions PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 has part of the rating for the Director’s Cut.

One possible explanation could be the recent leak, and domain registration, of something called Ghost of Ikishima. Uncovered by industry insider Shpeshal_Nick, that could be a full, standalone expansion to the original game, and if so, it’s possible that a Director’s Cut of Ghost of Tsushima could contain both the original and its standalone expansion.

Neither Sony nor Sucker Punch have made any announcements about Ghost of Tsushima’s future yet. Polygon has reached out to a Sony representative for more information.

Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut arrives on PS5 and PS4 consoles on August 20

Explore the brand new Iki Island, plus PS5-specific enhancements like DualSense controller haptic feedback, Japanese lip sync, and more.

PS5 exclusive features

While Director’s Cut players on both PS4 and PS5 will be able to experience the Iki Island content, PlayStation 5 players will have access to a few additional new features.

We’ve heard your feedback about the lack of Japanese lip sync in the original version of Ghost of Tsushima, and it’s something we worked hard to address in this new release. Thanks to the PS5’s ability to render cinematics in real time, cutscenes in Ghost of Tsushima and on Iki Island on PS5 will now offer lip sync for Japanese voice over.

We’re also happy to confirm that Ghost of Tsushima, Ghost of Tsushima: Legends, and the new Iki Island expansion will all take advantage of haptic feedback and adaptive triggers in the Director’s Cut. There will also be enhancements to 3D audio* on PS5, as well as drastically improved load times, 4K resolution options** and framerates targeting 60 FPS.

Transferring your progress

If you already own Ghost of Tsushima on PS4, you’ll be able to transfer your save to PS5 to pick up where you left off. For new players, the new Iki Island content will be available beginning in Act 2 of Ghost of Tsushima, after you’ve made your way to the Toyotama region.
