PS5

Since I am now a devoted PlayStation cultist I will tell you, brother.

PS5 "Pro" dev kits are already in developer hands, I saw a rumor about late 2023 release. I have absolutely horrific cosmic luck when it comes to buying consoles, and if the stars are correct me buying a regular PS5 yesterday means tonight you'll see the unveiling.

There is also that business with the handheld, and other peripherals.

Funnily enough the PS4 Pro "Neo" devkits were out around May too, with the Pro confirmed early June with the launch at the end of that year which was also 3 years into the console lifecycle.

Whatever happens, atleast you have your PS5 and can enjoy Astro's Playroom.

Eish, you know what, with the Rand being what it is I'll stay happy with the vanilla PS5 for now, that pro's price will probably sting like a bastard when it comes around.

Also little rant: I hope they work with AMD to make these things more power efficient, both the PS5 and Series X are freaking hogs, I actually had the Series S for a bit and that thing's low power consumption was insane, so it is possible.

Wouldn't mind a "lower power" mode.

Do you guys even have DLSS
They use variations of FidelityFX where needed, but normally stuff renders natively instead of smearing vaseline
on the screen to make up for the fact that you just spent four times the money for a GPU than what it's worth.

DLSS rendering is better than native, it’s not 2020 anymore. Don’t try to wealth shame me, peasant.

The last State of Play that was over an hour was the PS5 reveal, today's one is "a bit over an hour"... Maybe that rumoured PS5 slim with external blu ray drive? Time will tell.
This is not a SoP, where it only focuses on selected few titles, the Showcase is much wider and longer.

Final Fantasy 16 Is So Polished, It Doesn't Need a Day One Patch

In contrast to the majority of games that release these days, Final Fantasy XVI probably won't have a day one patch. In other words, the development team thinks the game is complete and polished, and that it doesn't need any post-ship adjustments.

Director Hiroshi Takai told Game Informer that there are currently no plans to update the action RPG at launch, although we obviously wouldn't be surprised if patches start arriving afterwards, as players begin providing feedback. Still, it's nice to hear that such a big budget title be fully playable right out of the box — a genuine rarity in this age of day one fixes.

From the outside looking in, it does feel as though development on Final Fantasy XVI has progressed quite smoothly — especially in comparison to its predecessors. That hasn't necessarily been the case, according to our interview with key members of staff, but even so, the team is clearly very confident in what it's created.

I’m fighting every urge to just pre-order this immediately…must…not…give in

How on earth is 200W for the entire system a power hog?

Have you seen PC’s?

Have you seen M1 and M2 CPUs? stuff is more efficient these days, dramatically so, stuff doesn't draw lots of power like back in the 1920s when you were in your 30s.

Yes I have three of them.

The M1 and M2 are an anomaly because the entire thing is built by Apple and engineered end to end by them.

AMD being a third party to Sony won’t ever get to that level, unless Sony start making their own chips.

That showcase was very underwhelming.

Excited for MGS though as I never played the original.
Can't wait for this ... it was the best gaming to ask for in our younger years on the "first Gen" Playstations
