PS5

The only time I've seen that message is when the power went off while the PS5 was on...do you keep it in rest mode? I think it says repairing database...

Also seems there are some people that have gotten it out of the '3 beeps of death', if what @AlphaJohn suggested doesn't work:

I always turn my PS5 off; but I think its got itself scheduled to turn on at night to check for downloads or something

Looks like loadshedding finally borked my PS5. It comes on, but there is zero display.

I've unplugged it and plugged it back in a couple of times, and each time it says it is repairing directory (like it usually does after a load shed), but the the screen is absolutely blank. 3 quick beeps from the PS5 and then fokall else.

Eish that's horrible.

Hope it's not borked or that you're covered by insurance.

Tks. It's certainly out if warranty and I doubt insurance will cover it as it seems it is not an electrical surge thing but just a known type of equipment failure :(

So unless the suggestions posted above work, I reckon I already know what early Christmas present I will be getting myself :)

Not sure why I put a smiley face at the end - not like I'm getting myself a PS5 Pro. But, I prefer to laugh than cry.

Ah, bummer dude

Surely its repairable?

Will you get the slim version if not?

Given the previous posts, it seems like this 3 beeps of death thing either gets sorted via the suggested actions, or you have a rather interesting pot-plant container.

And I will not be able to hold off for any new PS5 versions...

You need to get backup power for sensitive electronics. Even if it's just a simple UPS that will allow you to shut down everything properly...

From what I have seen, if it cant go into Safe mode the motherboard has gone bye bye, 6 feet under.
Cheaper to buy new one on sale esp if out of warranty.

I was lucky when I got my 3 Beeps, in my case it was the crappy HDMI link, so safe-mode and reboot fixed it.

So either Splinter gets sorted or have an excuse to go Slim.

Brings back memories of the Red Ring of Death (not that I was ever unfortunate enough to experience it - a friend did though)

Na man that PS5 slim looks ugly, I've seen a few second-hand original ones at Cash Converters.

@Splinter Sorry to hear about your PS5 man  Hope you can get it sorted out.

From what I can see it should be repairable...but not sure where you can take it in SA. You need someone to figure out where the short is happening. I saw a video of a guy fixing this issue by just replacing a teeny tiny capacitor on the board - for a fraction of the cost of a new device. Makes me think it's a fairly common issue unfortunately
