With PS6 launching in 2027 and that will be much faster than any PS5 Pro, why not wait?

Probably the smart financial choice, but a few games in their performance mode have made me think "Wow, this is pretty blurry".

The Pro console with 30%ish higher resolution and PSSR should make that image quite clear. ~1440p PSSR should be quite excellent, even more so when they make the FSR4-like improvements next year.

PS6 is about 2 years and 5 months away and there's a lot of games coming out until then that could benefit from these improvements.

Anyone have the PS5 Pro, opinions? Louder than the original PS5?

Tempted for one for Death Stranding 2, should offer a great experience for Ghost of Yotei this year and Saros/GTA6 next year.
Been offered a good deal on my PS5 so it should only cost me R10k to upgrade.

Not even sure I've played any games with a boost - I cannot remember if I played Jedi Survivor on PS5 or Pro, and now I'm playing Surge 2 which definitely doesn't need it.
Looking forward to a Lords of the Fallen dex run, which should be a nice improvement to when I played it a few months after launch.

But I wanted it, and got it for a good price from Hirches (16999, I see it's currently 19499 on Koodoo)

Mine is maybe 10-20% louder than my old PS5, it's negligible in terms of real world use.

For a 10k upgrade I'd say it's worth it for 1st party alone, never mind GTA6 etc. Next few years is gonna be baller

I think they stopped it early, because the supplier instructed all stores to list at R18999 this morning as part of a different sale.

Played it last night in Quality mode on my base PS5.

Wow. That opening scene is insane, such high geometry detail and huge draw distance. Characters are lifelike too.

There are dedicated VR games, or some “normal” games with VR updates like Gran Turismo, No Man’s Sky and Tetris Effect coming to mind.

But you can also play anything else in 2D cinema mode inside VR on a huge screen.

If it wasn’t for PSVR2 I probably wouldn’t use my PS5 at all.

Im looking to buy the PSVR2 mainly due to all positive reviews i see online for GT7 ( its the current game i play 90% of the time). Hoping it would still look good as i have the non pro PS5

Got my PS5 Pro today, thanks Amazon. Some thoughts coming from a base PS5 phat:

Aesthetics and feel
- Looks nice. Still quite heavy compared to the original, not flimsy at all.

Visuals
- Base PS5 holds up really well, especially if you're happy with the 30fps quality mode. The difference isn't as big as the old PS4 to PS4 Pro move despite costing more.
- Image quality is visibly improved on the Pro. Death Stranding 2 in Performance mode looks as good as base quality mode but with 60fps. Spider Man 2 with PSSR is insane, no shimmering just a super clear DLSS-like image.
- PSSR is supposed to get a big update next year with some FSR4 features so it should be even better in the future.
- I remember the option to enhance PS4 games being quite skimmed over on launch. While I don't play many PS4 games, the one my little cousins do (Wobbly Life) is visibly much clearer and runs a lot smoother.

Noise
- Idle noise is lower. Coil whine is lower.
- Noise in any game is noticeably higher. Even in the PS4 games I tried. That being said, with my 3.1 soundbar + sub on 8, I cannot hear any fans over the game except in pause menus . I usually game at 16 or with earphones so it's perfectly adequate (I remember my PS4 Pro back in the day used to be heard straight through headphones XD).
- Almost feels like the fan profiles are fixed, it ramps up the moment you open the game or keep it running in the background when you go back to the home screen so it doesn't seem as temperature dependent. This might be good, as in summer it should sound almost the same as now.

Misc
- The 2Tb space is nice, this should be the standard going forward.
- Seems like the same Wifi range, no big improvement
- The vertical stand is somehow rare - not on Takealot or Amazon and there's no JHB stock listed on the Makro/Incredible/HifiCorp websites, had to order it on Koodoo so it's only going to be here on Thursday which is annoying

TL;DR the more you pay the better it looks, bring on DS2, Ghost of Yotei and the best experience you can get in GTA6 in May.
