Indeed, the only reason I'm using FNB securities primarily and not ETFSA, is that I'm buying single blue chip stocks as well as Etfs.
Although, I have an ETFSA account that I tested out. The admin side is horrible though, so be prepared.
But yeah, if you are just going to be buying ETFs and leave them, ETFSA is a very good option.

How does FNB's rates compare to that of PSG for sing share trading.
So with ETFSA can you self-trade using the website once setup?
Its more an investment plan site. Similar interface/usability as Satrix.
You can do lump sum investments and setup debit orders yourself. But its not like a online broker system where you can place an order at a limit price etc. Also, the securities are only available for selling/switching after 40 days from buy (again, same as Satrix)
If you're only going to buy ETFs once a month and not planning on chopping and changing it will serve the purpose at a very good price.
Yeah I don't need Limits and such.
I would just like to buy what I want when i want.
I've been using Standard Bank Securities for the last 7 years. I have also seen the ABSA and FNB versions of the brokerages and can say Std Bank wins hands down among the banks. They have also won brokerage of the year for the last 3 years I think. I considered PSG years ago but their management and trading fees (i'm a long term investor) were exorbitant. I convinced my father to move from PSG to Std Bank Sec and he has never looked back. They have a chat forum (mainly traders though), trading research, long term investing research, and a whole lot of free training courses you can attend that are typically done at the JSE in Sandton. The advanced trading courses however cost money. The fees aren't bad either.
Hope this helps.

Does standard bank offer normal share trading too? Example say I want to buy a few shares in MR.Price and then sell them few days later etc?

Indeed it does. You can buy CFD's, shares as well as ETF's. I also started out like you with limited money and very little knowledge.
Awesome Awesome, CFD's I will stick to IG Markets I think they probably have one of the best platforms and mobile app's of all the Share related companies. I wish they were for normal trading too, because I really liked their platform and stability.
Currently looks like I might sign up for Standard Bank, What do you recommend using for graphs and market trends etc, Do you guys use one uniform platform or a variety something I do like is the WEN charting software from PSG.
The one thing I can tell you is the charting facility of Std Bank isn't great, or let's say I don't use it often. I've used it to check the moving averages, RSI values (overbought/oversold) before buying shares for my portfolio. I'm a longterm investor so buying/selling regularly based on charts is not a requirement for me.
finance.google.com is quite a good one to use, to get ideas of market trends, and other detailed information on shares (via Reuters)
Would it require a Standard Bank bank account?
Just to recap if I go with standard bank.
Are all shares listed on the JSE available or just certain etc ?
