Can someone please help me out with the following....

The Top 40 Index ETF and ASLI 40 ?

Then what would be better ALSI or Top 40 ETF?

Just to recap if I go with standard bank.

Are all shares listed on the JSE available or just certain etc ?

All and more.

They also have a whole bunch of derivatives. Contracts for Difference, single Stock Futures, warrants, to name but a few.

Hello, Thank you for the post.

Here is what I would like to do:
I want to buy shares in the Top 40 Index ( So I assume that would be ETF's).
I want to buy shares in private companies example, Woolworths, ABSA etc.
I want to manage my own portfolio if possible to avoid costs.

I have experience with IG Markets when I did CFD's and found they had acceptable prices.
I would like a platform similar to IG Markets.

Standard Share Traders. The only area that Standard are ahead of the other Banks. Come on FNB you CAN do better!

I have previously used PSG, Tradek and Standard. Standard are the best in speed, site and costs. Plus they offer free training seminars and comprehensive online help.

What Billy said is right. Also know that you have to pay trading fees when buying or selling shares. For example:
100 Sasol shares at R436.00:

The Standard bank website shows you on the fly the costs that will be involved before making your decision to buy/sell.

I don't have a clue as to how to just display the image in this post without having to click on it.

Yesterday I went to sign up for Standard Bank Online Trading, but cancelled around step 3 as there was no option for R60 a month only R200 and something so I wasn't sure if I signed up at the right place.

I clicked on open an account next to the demo thing.

Click on the fees and costs tab. If you can show the option selections of accounts. You just want the 15minute delayed version.

I know that, but there was no option to choose delayed pricing. Well I did not see it.

Can you attach a screenshot of step 3? It's weird, the fees and costs show no indication of a R200 fee, unless its a combination of options.

Looked at your Step 3 but couldn't see the mention of R200

After you've selected the items you want enabled on the account and clicked on Add Account.
Does something still not show up?
