PSL Discussion Thread

Chislett looks like a decent player. I assume timing is because he wants to try and break into the Bafana Bafana side for the World Cup with qualification now looking likely. Mike Makaab played a big role in getting him the Chiefs deal.

Good that they have totally ignored the local market that overpriced players, let's see how the greed of the owners work when it's only Sundowns bidding for the players.

I doubt Chislett cost much and possibly took a salary cut as he apparently could have played in the English Championship. He just seems hungry to play for Bafana Bafana. He's another Dean Furman case. His father played for Manning Rangers and he grew up in UK.

Hope it works out for him. Furman adapted quickly but we've seen in the past that even if they may look decent, these type of players don't always adapt well to the PSL and struggle as well.

One guy I remember was the defender from Portugal who Bafana tried out for a while, Ricardo Nunes. He was touted as a free kick specialist who played with Ronaldo in his younger days but then looked out of place when he played for Bafana.

I am happy for him, good luck on the new challenge, he did it with Black Leopards and Moroka Swallows. I actually have more respect for coaches like him than the likes of abo Rhulani who go around looking for teams with money hoping for some smash ang grab success.

His big selling point all these years though was that he didn't have a journeyman CV like the typical SA coach but now he will have one.

Durban City is the reincarnation of Maritzburg United and owned by Farouk Kadodia who is trigger happy. Coaches often don't last the season there.

I thought the CT City job would suit Hunt as they don't fire coaches in a hurry but they are in the pits now though there is also talk they might try to buy themselves back in like AmaZulu used to do.

On another note, this means Cape Town City might have to play it out in the NFD next year. I'm sure SSU was the club they were trying to buy.

Not sure they can tempt anyone else into selling unless maybe Orbit College can be tempted.

For a team like that, without a sponsor and having to compete in the PSL, I wouldn't blame them if they were to take the cash, I would however expect them to invest it in the team for the future.

Do you know if they are really a College team or are they privately owned just using the name?

Not too clued up on them but I'd hazard a guess it's a similar arrangement to Tuks/the old Wits where they just use the name but sign external players. No way you can be competitive professionally using College players.

Gayton has delivered on his promise to resurrect Celtic, lol. No doubt this will help the PA break new grounds in the LGE next year.

Lol its only now I see its Gayton's son who bought the club. Is he a business man or we does he get his capital ? Rememebr a few years back there was a dodge PSL sale and the club dind't pay salaries, transfers etc and eventually got banned.

Apparently he's handling the family business deals since Gayton got into politics. Honestly, we can't yet say much about him as nothing much is known about him at this stage. Time will tell.

With Shawn Mkhize whom you are referring to, everyone knew she had a dodgy past.

I just want you guys to know that this beautiful Football Manager playlist exists:

Zealand manages Black Leopards, and then goes on to manage Orlando Pirates

In the end he makes one of the players a saint for his actions on the field.....

He's American, so he battles a bit pronouncing some of our African names but he goes all out on passion!

Pirates are cooking. We need a few more goals - we need to take the defeat against Sundowns out on Chiefs. Nothing personal.
