Got the PSmart 2019 for a bit and figured we could take a look at how it compares to its closest rivals on the market as they seem to be quite close:
- Nokia 7.1
- Samsung Galaxy A6 2018

So far I have been impressed with the speed of the PSmart, battery so far seems to be holding up well to. The Display is pretty good for a IPS LCD, I am surprised at just how clear it is even against the Mate 20 Pro, but it is not as bright or as insanely sharp as the Mate 20 Pro display, which is understandable.

Build quality is great, the phone is solid yet nice and lite in the hand, it also comes with a sweet clear case in the box.

What I am loving is the much smaller teardrop notch, that makes the screen look much larger and more immersive.

Some disadvantages:
- I am noticing is that PSmart is using an older MicroUSB connector and not a USB-C.
- Something that may be an initial drawback is the Notification LED that is sitting at the bottom of the device, in the Chin

Anyone who owns the Nokia or Galaxy keen to share their experience with their devices?
This segment seems to be getting more congested with competitive devices.

Sitting with 2 x A6+'s in the house ... nothing to write home about. It is big. Battery lasts ok. Camera is meh. It does the job though.

Face unlock is slower (takes a few seconds) than the fingerprint unlock (almost instant) so I do not use that anymore. To make matters worse, once it detects a face it seemingly ignores the fingerprint unlock till it has given up on matching faces. So I initially thought the fingerprint scanner was acting up since it would only unlock at around the 5th tap.

The placement of the power button almost across from the volume rocker is irritating as one inadvertently press the two together when you want to turn of the screen.

The always-on display functionality was nice for the first week I had it on. Not for me. Personal choice though.
 
I saw a p smart 2019, the first thing that bugged me was the led for notifications at the bottom. Maybe it's resistance to change but I didn't like it. Overall interf interface was good though
 
What is the pricing for the 3 devices, that I s also a determining factor
 
I helped a friend with an upgrade yesterday - she got the P Smart from Vodacom with their R329 (actually R375) per month special (50 min, 50 SMS, 350MB). The phone seems pretty decent, but I was surprised it still used micro-usb (though that was handy for her).
 
I would go for the 7.1, because it's an Android One phone. So you're guaranteed security updates for two years as well as an upgrade to Android Q at the very least. I am a bit biased as I have a 7 plus, but until the rest of the brands up their game with updates, I'll be sticking with Nokia.
 
I think the guys with the device should try it and share the feedback with us.
