Hi, anybody here who suffers from psoraisis, would like to chat with you on remedies that you find works for you, thanks

Nope, but I can tell you that you definitely want to avoid the immunosuppressants if possible. They range from expensive to stupidly expensive. All with a sprinkling of dangerous on top. And med aids don't like covering them except in specific cases. :(

Personally I'd make a list of all the possible treatments that aren't dangerous and try them all together - do consult a doc first though.

Saw this movie/film recently: http://www.fatsickandnearlydead.com/

This dude had a seemingly similar condition and managed to get rid of it by a change in his diet and exercise regime. He started off with a 60 day 100% juice fast under the watchful eye of his doctor.

Film SYNOPSIS

100 pounds overweight, loaded up on steroids and suffering from a debilitating autoimmune disease, Joe Cross is at the end of his rope and the end of his hope. In the mirror he saw a 310lb man whose gut was bigger than a beach ball and a path laid out before him that wouldn't end well— with one foot already in the grave, the other wasn't far behind. FAT, SICK & NEARLY DEAD is an inspiring film that chronicles Joe's personal mission to regain his health.

With doctors and conventional medicines unable to help long- term, Joe turns to the only option left, the body's ability to heal itself. He trades in the junk food and hits the road with juicer and generator in tow, vowing only to drink fresh fruit and vegetable juice for the next 60 days. Across 3,000 miles Joe has one goal in mind: To get off his pills and achieve a balanced lifestyle.

While talking to more than 500 Americans about food, health and longevity, it's at a truck stop in Arizona where Joe meets a truck driver who suffers from the same rare condition. Phil Staples is morbidly obese weighing in at 429 lbs; a cheeseburger away from a heart-attack. As Joe is recovering his health, Phil begins his own epic journey to get well.

What emerges is nothing short of amazing – an inspiring tale of healing and human connection.
Part road trip, part self-help manifesto, FAT, SICK & NEARLY DEAD defies the traditional documentary format to present an unconventional and uplifting story of two men from different worlds who each realize that the only person who can save them is themselves.

Mostly GREEEN juices with Green apples to sweeten. Take the plunge buy a decent Blender and make Fruit and Veg city your new best friend.

Oi to have to live without biscuits and cakes

Guess I have to take the plunge

My pharmacist who is also a homeopath, has suggested a tot of aloe juice every morning and rubbing the juice on the lesions as well. And 2 additional blood/liver cleaning tablets

Just get a doc/nutritionist to help you. These juice diets are by definition not balanced, so you'll need supplements to fix it.

I used to make massive blender drinks like 1.5L. Its cool - just make sure you've got mostly vegies in there...fruit based ones are very delicious but also calorie bombs.

Psoriasis is a b!tch! Especially when you loose control over it and it spreads like a wild fire across your body. Lesions generally start on places like the elbows, knees and on your head. It may quickly spread into larger lesions and all across your body. It generally starts from the late teens and upwards, but it has been found on children as young as 5 years old.

Nobody knows what causes Psoriasis to manifest, but it is suspected that things like stress, the wrong foods and drinks may play a big role.

Unfortunately there is absolutely no cure for Psoriasis. Some medication I know of personally, which can be used to control Psoriasis are:

1. Cortisone injections / medication (Be very careful of this! Some doctors just jump in an inject. I found that Cortisone are excellent in completely taking away lesions in the short term, but after a while they return - 10 times worse. My recommendation is to avoid cortisone if you suffer of Psoriasis).

2. Dovate Cream (You need a prescription from a doctor, but in bad cases of Psoriasis Dovate alone will not work sufficiently).

3. Dovate Cream mixed with Salicilic Acid (Again you need a prescription for this mixture. I found it to work the best, but I also found the lesions to return much worse if you leave them untreated using this mixture)

4. Coal Tar Mixtures (You can get these over the counter, but if you have a bad case of Psoriasis they generally do not work).

5. Light Therapy (You get various kinds - sunlight / UV / Photochemotherapy - but I did not find any of them to work effectively)

6. Methotrexate (You need a prescription for these pills. They are dangerous to the liver and cancer patients are usually treated with it. Many I heard said it help, but I found no success or even remote success with these pills.)

I think you can also try some Psoriasis-related creams you can buy over the counter at pharmacies, but again I do not find them to be effective. One that did help quite a bit was Psoriatol, which I bought at Dischem some time back.

You can also take a look at Champori - http://www.champori.com/ - I imported this some years back and it was quite effective.

Some pharmacies are now selling these blue Magnesium spray bottles. I found that to bring some relief, but it hurts like hell if you do not thin it out.

There is some drug that is about to come to SA at some point in time. It is a process of 6 injections and costs around R40,000 mark. The problem with this is that from tests about 40% of users found it to take the Psoriasis away and have not reported any recurrence the past 1-2 years. So, this is a 40-60 gamble that it will work for you. If you have the money and willing to gamble on it, go see a Dermatologist, they can order, import and administrate it for you.

Hope this helps.

I have/had it (very mild) and the severity of it is very much related to stress.

The worst and first time it manifested was during a very rough time for me. After I moved town and changed jobs/people it sort off went away.

It's worth a mention that when it was on the back of my head I used some form of tar based shampoo which seemed to ease the itching but not by much.

I have had psoriasis for years and have tried just about everything from tree oils to Methotrexate and something stronger (for the life of me I cannot remember the name though). What I have found to work is:
1. Reduce stress.
2. Reduce alcohol.
3. Stop smoking.
4. Eat healthily.
5. Exercise.
6. Avoid cortisone - will improve symptoms, but it will come back worse.
7. I have UVA treatment every now and then to control it.
8. I use Xamiol (prescription) and it clears the scalp completely. This stuff is brilliant.
9. I use Dovobet (prescription). Improves, but does not clear.

I have had psoriasis since I was 6 months old.

Methotrexate worked quite well for me but I had to stop because it was busy screwing around with my liver function.
UVA, I did last year just before my wedding just to give my body a shock treatment for a while. (It works but it gets expensive)

Currently the only thing that works for me is Diprosalic ointment and Zinplex tablets. This combination keeps everything under control.
I have tried Dovobet and Dovonex before as well without any success.

Oddly enough, I visit Durban at least once a year for about 2 weeks. During this time, especially using my cream I find the Psoriasis to almost go away. I suppose it has a lot to do with the sun, humidity, etc.

And yes, too much sun is very bad for Psoriasis.
