Hi guys & girls

Does this sound too good to be true? I know they say if it sounds too good to be true, it isn't. They don't exactly specify whether it's a 3000 or a 2000 though. I have e-mailed them with a few questions.

http://planetgaming.co.za/home/psp/psp-consoles/

I've bought from these people before, only a game though, and have had no problems with it. But I'd rather not take a chance with a console they say is brand new, and turns out it's not quite. Is there anything I can look at on the box/console etc while in the shop to see if it's legit?

Thanks

On one part of the site it says "closed 25 Dec 08 - 4 Jan 09. Open 5 Jan 09" so I dont think its been updated in a while. Personally, I wouldnt trust it.

I dont know.

Firstly you cant really "CHIP" your psp if they actually mean that its soft modded then its a different story.

Things to look at.
1. Sealed box with plastic wrapping (but this will be off as they "CHIPPED" the psp.

2. Any Scratches on the complete unit as the screen dont scratch easy look at the complete unit rather.

3.You can check the serial number and register it after purchase.
(normally 99% of owners registered their PSP as you got something for free
in doing so)
If it cant register then its second hand and I would take it back as they said its ne

4.The 1000 series was the old PHAT version so if they have new ones in stock then it is actually 3 or 4 years old and they found some one with alot of old stock(wont trust this that much)

Any other usual tell tale signs like no demo disc no manual the packaging looks wierd or things are missing.

The list can go on but these are the things you can look quickly at.

Hi there.

Have you bought a PSP yet? we are looking to buy a PSP today at Toyzone across East Rand Mall today for R2 199.00. It is the PSP 3000 Slim. Is the price OK. http://www.toyzone.co.za/images/thetimes.pdf

Hi Deon

damn, i always forget about toyzone-that's the one next to look & listen huh? thanks for the info. which game bundle did you go for? what did it come with?

yep, got it on Monday from BT games, the turquoise green one with Little Big Planet. i was phoning around on Monday and some places were sold out of the LBP one (which is the one i specifically wanted), as well as the psp by itself. i thought i'd buy the psp by itself if i found one (wasn't interested in the other games that came with some bundles like at cna) and LBP seperately.

so i phoned BT (the last place on my list funny enough) and he said he has psp's (R1999), but no LBP game when i'd asked him about the game only. then he made my day and said "but i do have the LBP bundle" - i could hardly wait for the day to end to go get it. it was R2299 (credit card takes another knock), came with a LBP mannetjie screencleaner and a pouch (too cute, it's knitted in brown wool with a big-a$$ zip like the li'l poppit is made out of).

did you get an instruction manual with yours? i only got a safety manual, i haven't gone through the whole thing, but there should still be an operators manual - no?

Hi there.

My son chose Fifa 10 as the free game and bought Tiger Woods 2007. Everything was sealed with a loot of literature as well as a quick installation guide. It his book it says that the complete manual can be downloaded.

Enjoy!

OOOOOH ok, thanks, maybe if I'd read the thing a bit further than the battery page :D i was just eager to get started - although I did let it charge for just over 2 hours first. i also got the quick guide and 2 other safety manuals in other languages.

Another thing, which I didn't know at time of purchase (thinking it would work like other consoles with memory), is that you have to have a memory stick thingy to save (pretty sucky). i also bought BUZZ quiz world on monday, but wasn't able to save my progress (switched off the autosave feature, 'cos it picked up that there was no memory stick and i couldn't proceed), no biggy i'll just start again once I have one - but still - NO FAIR, more moola!

i started LBP last night (cute and weird little game) and just as i got to the moon planet or whatever, where you can start creating your own world, my battery died (other consoles at least warn you that your battery is running low).

i'll have to go get a memory stick after work tonight.

Welcome.

Yeah, it sucks that you have to buy the memory card extra. What size did you think of buying?

I didn't end up going after work, had to take kitty to vet which i forgot about.

I don't know what size to get, the higher you go the more moola it is (duh, well spotted B3X :D). But it's no sense getting the 1G if it doesn't hold much, ya see I dunno how much space saving a game takes up each time.

So do I just go buy a 4 or 8G? *sigh*, but you can, apparently, use the Micro SD pro duo which is compatible with the psp (http://www.playstationgoods.co.za/c...o pro micro sd&PN=Memory_Cards.html#a160#a160) and I think the sandisk one is too, question is where to find it. I'll try Planet Gaming after work and see what they've got or else go to Greenstone on the weekend. If I can't find it, I'll try kalahari/playstationgoods, they've got some memory cards.

If you want fast transfer rates, use genuine Sony or Sandisk Pro Duo memory sticks. Sony:

16GB - R799
8GB - R399
4GB - R259

Thanks, i bought one at Game Xchange on Friday, Sony 2G for R180. Should I be concerned that it was given to me in a plastic baggie, no original packaging?
