my pc specs are:

E6750,intel JHB MB,2gig 800, 250gb SATA , 9600gt, and a audigy zs 2 and dvd drive , mayb add another hd sometime.

thoughts??????

I have a 500W Thermaltake TR2 - very happy with it...Otherwise you could look at Coolmaster or Antec, also very good.

17dB at 1300RPM - I have no idea if that is good or bad, anyone?

I read somewhere like you will not notice anything that's 30dB and below as this is your environment noise level or something?

17 dba is very good - some of the most silent case fans are +- 18 dba. From personal experiance, generally the smaller the fan the more louder it is. so for a psu 17 dba is niice :)

Somewhere on MyBB is a thread about dba and it has a nifty little graph which compares dba to other sounds so you can get an idea of what they are like... not sure where the thread is though

hey tyerone, just out of interest..what is the wattage of your current PSU?

lol, I'm rolling with a 500watt mircolap psu, thing serves me dam well and it's silent :D
Best of all, cost me R500 a year ago, so i thought it was a good deal, sorted out my random shut downs when gaming

AS for the the dba thing mentioned earlier,
A whisper is 20 DBA
rustling leaves are 10 dba
Normal conversation is 60 dba
Busy street is 70dba
Vacuum cleaner is 80 dba
a rock concert is 110dba(if you in front row)
pain threshhold is 130DBA

but dba is some what exponential... so the difference between a whisper and 17dba is tiny
