Just wanted to find out if my current power supply is sufficient to power my rig.

Here are the specs:

Antec True Power 550W 2.0 PSU
Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 2400Ghz CPU (Stock)
Intel D975XBX Motherboard
2GB DDR2 667 Memory (2 x 1GB)
XFX Geforce 8800GTS Graphics Card
2 x Western Digital 74GB SATA 10000RPM Raptor Hard Drives Running in Raid 0
1 x Western Digital 320GB SATA 7200RPM HDD
2 x DVD-Writers
1 x 1.44 Stiffy Drive
1 x 7-in-1 Card Reader
3 Chassis Fans

What i find is that since i have installed my new graphics card the computer has slowed down and the Raid 0 drives aren't spinning as fast as they should.
Not experiencing any hangups or reboots. Could it be that i don't have enough power to power the hard drives?

Any feedback will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
K

It shouldn't be too much of an issue, but if you can, perhaps find an Aopen 700W and see if it improves things.

I'd consider the combination of fans (incl cooling for the case, CPU, mobo and gfx), plus the combined draw of high-speed HDD's, CPU, gfx and the optical drive during gaming.

It shouldn't result in lower performance though. You'd normally face instability, with random freezes or reboots if the PSU is at fault. A performance rig like that should be happily munching regular apps (including any game) without the slightest concern.

Is this a clean OS installation after adding the 8800, or did you do a straight swap?

Did you first completely uninstall the old card's drivers?

I'd suggest that you boot into safe-mode, use DriverCleaner or equivalent to remove every trace of your driver and reinstall.

The gfx drivers should have zero effect on the HDD performance, but maybe old drivers (or settings) might just cause symptoms that look like this.
