Pulled off without cause, police not looking for bribe

Last night outside Table View on the west coast before Atlantic Beach. Checked my drivers licence and vehicle licence disc

Been stopped many many times in DBN and surroundings. Just Drivers check and walk around the car.

Also twice in roadblocks. Once on the M4 south before Bluff, they check the boot etc. I think they were looking for weapons. And once in Waterfall around 11pm, but was let go without any search or drivers check. Was probably looking for drunk drivers.

Been living in Oman now for 8 months, touch wood, not stopped once.

Too far for the DBN Metro guys to travel :)

Plenty of times over the last 30 years and all over South Africa, excepting the roads from Gauteng to KZN.

Never been asked for a bribe. Never had an issue. Always cooperate and be courteous, they have a job to do.

If I had to rate the worst of them in terms of service delivery, it would be the old Transkei crews...

About 3 times on Robert Sobukwe (then still Modderdam Rd) North in Bellville. Traffic officers were pulling over random cars and taxis, and not one of the times did they make any mention of my car being lowered. Just checked my driver's and vehicle licenses and let me go with a smile.

They stop cars for being lowered? This is something new!

Only for really obvious ones or all.....

UsernameLadiesMan217's thread made me wonder, how often does the cops pull off a random car simply to check.

I've been stopped about 4 times in the last 6 years, 3 times at roadblocks and once from the fast lane on the N3 between JHB and PTA. Each time the cops simply checked my driver's license, sometimes they checked in the boot. They've always been courteous and never gave me any reason to suspect them of looking for bribes.

So, how many of you had similar experiences?

Same experience. Pulled over 3 times in the past two years.

I've only been pulled over once, reason being I was driving near a alleged drug dealing house got searched had to remove my shoes and sit against a wall for 2 hours like a common criminal while I was lectured of the danger of drugs because they found a lighter in the glove box even though I was just lost looking for the nearest onramp.

Day made! :D
