Punished. What are your views ?

Agree with bboy. As I am the most dangerous WrG clan member for teamies if everyone punished me I would be banned for life.

I tend to do a lot of driving ok:rolleyes:
 
I punish if i feel a TK was purposeful or easily avoidable.
I expect to get punished if i do the same.
Why act like a kid and try vote off someone who punished you ?
If you are really offended - swap teams and hunt them down.

You completely miss the reason that the punish system exists ... it's to stop the blatent killing of team mates for jets/choppers/armour ...

i.e. BLATENT KILLING !

You punishing for "easily avoidable" stuff is complete bull.
What is easily avoidable to you could be a nightmare of flashing tags and blurry vision to the other person.

If I killed you by accident and you punish me I will do my utter best to have you kill me so I can punish you back - if i'm bored enough. If that's the game you want to play, lets doit.

I also think ur attitude sux . 2 many times I have take a shot with a tank or apc and only as teh shot is busy going off does the green tag appear. Most of the people know how I play and dont punish , but it seems as if you are one of the priv few who would remain in my black book of shame.

I can still remember the day very well when I had a shootout with an enemy guy. We were both low on health and the guy decided to run. I chased him into a deadend alley, so I knew he would turn around and wait for me. I was playing the assault kit, so switched to the "noob tube" to send him a going away present. Just as I fired, a team mate came rushing past me into the alley. He died and immediately punished me. I was so angry for:
a) Him trying to steal my kill.
b) Him costing me 4 points with his stupidity
c) Him then to add insult to injury punishing me

So, I feel people only should punish if they have never TK-ed anybody themselves. Otherwise, treat others as you want to be treated. The TK-er is already crying about the 4 or 6 points lost. Punishing will only turn the tears into anger.

General Consensus so far : Nobody likes your attitude!

I vote you off cause you are a moron and you bring no good to the server.

I started the thread to get a general consensus - not to scrutinize 1 incident.
My views are general. Obviously circumstances dictate what happens.

My opinion?? If I get teamkilled, it's ok...if I get punished, it's ok...people make mistakes, I have often teamkilled, and often pgdn'd by accident...I know what it's like.

It's like starting a mutiny without realising.

To enjoy a game, I believe one should try and keep a positive attitude. (As far as possible)

...plus, if one guy gets mad, and upsets someone else, we'll end up with a whole map full of befoeterde people...and that will suck!

I always forgive unless I'm sure it was deliberate...

The guys do sometimes seem just too damned trigger happy... Got TK'd about 6 times in 5 minutes on karkand the other day. Didn't punish but was starting to get annoyed.

Ditto Drusky - I agree...it's easy to get annoyed, but one should try not to get too upset. You might have a heart attack and die...and then??

Somewhere in all the bull this is also supposed to be a team game. Yes there are the retards who think it is all about them and their sychophants and how cool is is to sit in a BH and throw explosives out the door. Somehow the noble idea of realism gave ground to heroic fantasy. Sure - it is a game and a wonderful game at that.

TK should be punished, and they are. But should they have additional punishment, because that's what the vote does? I think yes. But not arbitarily so. By arbitarily I mean that if you were ignorant enough to ignore the red skull warning you should not get a chance to vote. If you were dumb enough to walk in front of me just as I fire an anti tank round you should not get a vote.

And it should be simple for the game to sort out (although it might have bandwidth consumption consequences). In the first case above each explosive device should have an arming period - for the first 5 seconds of its existence the device will not detonate on a friendly and when it does there is no vote. For the second, if my missile was targetting an enemy just prior to hitting fire then there is no vote.

Perhaps there should be an option to PTK people who insist on reviving you in the middle of an arty barrage.

The thing that really gets my goat is when people punish after driving over your mines. I try to give a lot of thought as to where I place the mines, as sticking mines in an obviously friendly "high-traffic" area is a bad idea, but DON"T PUNISH!!!! The -4 is bad enough!

The AA thing is also ridiculuos. Even when I have been locked onto an enemy aircraft, I sometimes still get "Team vehicle damage", and if I am even more unlucky, a teamkill, and if I am even more unlucky a punishment after that...

In short - punish only for deliberate or repeatedly stupid offences
 
Thing about teamkilling is that one TK already puts you 4 teampoints down. Now if a bloke comes and punishes, you lose another lot.

I have been punished plenty because some moron thought the red skull on his map meant extra points and ran into my claymore. Judging by the speed of some of these punishes, these people had their PGDN key taped down.

Personally I never punish unless intention was blatantly obvious. Like the other day, a guy who had a very odd idea if stat padding, shot and revived me about 3 times. The first time I thought it was an accident, but the subsequent times made it clear. He caught the punishes from me and was off the server very quickly.
