People seem to be very heated when punished for a TK.
Understandable, but saying 'sorry' isnt too hard to do either.

What are your views ?

If the action hot and fast or if it was unavoidable (me being next to an enemy tank that gets destroyed) I'll normally just forgive and get back into the fray.

Otherwise I'll forgive if the guy says he's sorry. Unless it has been the upteenth time in a round.
 
The punishment must fit the crime...
the word "Sorry" gets devalued if its used without MEANING that you are sorry... shoot em!

The "sorry" must be kept in context.

i never punish ever unless i get shot for a plane in which case i rather take a screenie get him banned for a month then punish

punishing i feel is very noob like
because in order to punish you must never have teamikilled anyone in your whole bf2 carreer

if someone punishes i will chirp him one way

why do ppl expect an apology its war it happens move on

if i kill someone by accident and then am trying to fight 2 guys and dodge a tank htf should i say sorry?

punishing angers me badly
4-8 points is enough punishment


and as long as ppl think that he didnt say sorry waaaaaaaaaaaaa im gonna punish him

thats for the 13 year olds who play

not the over 18 because we are mature enough to accept accidents happen and no one intends on team killing

i only punish if i see its blatant.... friendly fire is something else if you run towards an enemy tank to plant C4 while 2 friendly APC's are shooting at it.. :p
 
I hate punishers!!

If i accidentally kill a teamie and he punishes me = Loss of respect for that dude/du-ded!!!!

ps. how do u take a screenie of someone killing u as u run for a plane?? Isn't it always 2 late?

Everyone flies off.. i jump in the Usa ESSEX AA... cause i know the jets are coming... you have flow off in something else... a jet comes past... i shoot some AA at it... i jump out the AA and climb up the ladder.. then it says i killed YOU... i say sorry... you've alreayd punished!!

I ask... "why the hell did you punish me?"


you reply...." cause you shot me down on purpose..."


i ask you "where were you"

you reply " i was over their airfield"

so... apparently i am so good with the AA i can shoot down their jets on their airfield all the way from the USA bloody ship!

Hence i was pissed with you!

There was no reason to punish at all!!

Alot of people take note of that... hence you ended the round with a score of -19.... yes... ppl dont like your crap attitude of pgdown is attached to my **** and its the only action it gets so i use it whenever i can!

However... with me being a reasonable player... and not pissing off everyone else.. i still managed to climb up to a medal on that level!

Seriously ... punishing is for blatant team killing.

If I killed you by accident and you punish me I will do my utter best to have you kill me so I can punish you back - if i'm bored enough. If that's the game you want to play, lets doit.
 
There is a norm rule for us BF2 players.. it goes along the line of... well i just got teamkilled... i dont know how it happened... i wont punish!

Ok... i'm dog fighting.. with a mate trying to shoot down the same jet as me.. this could be a team kill.. i wont punish!

Hmmm... this dude is hovering a bit close to me.. i hope he doesn't... arghhh... oh well... lets hope his flying skills improve.. i wont punish!

Holy crap... this dude just shot me in the face as i was running for a jet... i will punish!!!

I had a "noob" gunner in the chopper with me last night... he was learning.... he killed about 8 teamies... nobody punished... we were all on the same squad laughing about it... the guy is learning!
 
Thing is, we were ALL noobs once 2!!!!

I agree with the general sentiment that most TK's are accidental, I should know I cause plenty, c4 has a tendency to do that . . .

BUT - I will punish if some twit does something deliberatly. Eg sneaks up behind me while I'm laying c4 on enemy arty and procedes to throw his c4 over my head, then blow the arty while I'm still standing there. That's just #$%#ing rude!

You might not be able to see it at the time because the spawn screen is up, but it does work.
 
I also do not like people who punish. I never do, except for people killing me for equipment. I try to say sorry, but sometimes I am just too busy trying to stay alive.

After reading bboy's post, if that's your attitude, then you're not a player I would welcome into my squad, let alone my clan.

Don't get me wrong, there are certain situations that I will probably punish for - especially if I'm in a bad mood - but if I drive over a teamie mine, I'm not gonna punish the dude who left it there - it was my own stupidity in the first place. Likewise, if I'm in an aircraft (be it chopper or jet), and I get killed by a teamie missile, I already know that the missiles are erratic, and it's VERY easy to accidentally shoot a teamie on the other side of the map - so I don't punish either. AA is crap, I know this, so why should I punish the guy who was trying to get rid of the pesky enemy aircraft? He's ALREADY suffered -4 for each person that died.

Now, another example, if I spawn at a flag that has been friendly for ages, and make a slight movement and get blown up by a teamie's claymore - THAT I will punish for. Wtf was the moron thinking by placing a claymore in a well travelled friendly area?

PGUP is an automatic thing for me. As soon as I see the text 'Do you wish to punish' blah blah, I automatically hit PGUP (unless I'm drunk and my motor control is malfunctioning - I'm still sorry XEye). I THINK before I hit PGDN - I don't make snap judgements.

- And I don't give a crap if the guy apologises or not, I'll still hit PGUP. It's VERY difficult for a pilot to apologise while he has his hands full keeping a craft in the air, or battling for his life in the middle of a ... err... battle.

Thing is ... punishing ruins a good game.

There I was in a jeep, driving back to me teamies after spawning miles away cos I forgot to chaneg the spawnpoint to TeamLead, finally almost there, jump out of jeep behind them, kill 2 blokes sneaking up on them, and one teamie [wierd - must have been a headshot cos I only fired 6 rounds], other teamie shoots at me, all the other teamies turn around and blow me away, and I get punished ... WHY ... WHY ... WHY ... WHY ??

Would have been my first silver, and now I'm supposed to not hate the punisher ? Hu Hu Hu ?

Aaaarg please. I hate the punisher.

Punishing sucks. It's a useless irritating feature. We already loose score, why have this freaking feature at all ?

I'm seriously considering punishing every single time I get TK'd. No matter what. I don't give a hoot any more, it's pathetic how I never punish and always get punished.

Enough is enough.

i think its simple ppl need to stop saying sorry all the time, if you can say sorry

i hardly ever say say sorry unless the person is in my squad
because ppl know im sorry i wouldnt have done it on purpose hehe

if you get tked and you wanna punish just think about all the times youve been tked im sure you'll pgup is the right thing to do :)
