Wow, that is a nice car. So I am considering not accepting the offer on the Yaris and going with the Kia Cerato instead, or maybe a Suzuki Swift. The only things that I was concerned about was servicing, parts, reliability and maintenance costs over the long run.

Well, Kias come with a 10 year/150 000km warranty and a service plan (not sure about the details of the service plan), so you needn't worry.
 
Well there is a difference between service plans and motorplans. I was talking more about the wear on parts and their replacement costs. European cars not only have the problem of expensive parts but with the time that it takes to acquire the part.

The reason that the Kia is interesting to me is the fact that it costs exactly the same as the amount that I was quote by Toyota for the T3+ (plus some extras). I enjoyed the drive in the Yaris, it was soft and quite - also the electronic dash was impressive :D

The Kia's in a whole different segment than the Yaris though, so it's much better value. Look at it this way - would they offer a 10 year warranty if their vehicles were unreliable?
 
Heheh. Ended up going for the Toyota Yaris Sedan. Got free tinting thrown in and it's a beautiful vehicle. Loving it so far :)

Fuel economy is waaaaay better than my old Golf. Whiiich I'm still trying to get roadworthied since apparently the right headlamp doesn't show the right pattern. :(

I wish South Africans can get this blind brand loyalty out their heads.
The last few years Toyota and VW have really been trashed by other brands yet we keep going back to them at higher costs for less.

The thing is, the 2.0l Lancer is R30k more expensive than the 2.0l Cerato

The Cerato is awesome.

R199k buys you the quickest car under R200k with 2l engine, damn good looks, good features at the price, warranty & service plan.

Seriously thinking about getting one.
