Hi all,

I need some assistance.
I want to buy a braai - one of those metal barrels etc that is on a stand type thing.
Can you guys direct me?

We live in a flat and have a small one, but I want to get a bigger one and punt that the rest of the flat is able to use it, I will then secure it.
How much am I looking at?

My birthday is coming up on the 3rd Jan and I'd like to have a gathering but I can't have one with the small braai we currently have.

Thanks!

About R500 for the barrel braai on wheels and includes a grid

Thinking of getting the SO one for Xmas. Everything I look at is so wobbly :wtf:

And I am not spending a fortune on something to burn meat on

I see on Gumtree they go for anything from R450 to R900 - the larny ones are R1300± but I'm not looking for larny.

I might spend anything up to R1000.
A friend of mine promised to buy me one but considering prices - I might offer to go half half with them on the purchase.

have a small one, but I want to get a bigger one

Condolences.

While I've never had this problem myself, I've heard there are some sangomas that can help :D

But seriously, if you just want a barrel one, why not make it yourself, or ask a friend to make one, they'll probably do it for a few beers. Buying them normally ends up being very expensive.

Edit: Oh I see it's not so bad, maybe get one of those from Gumtree then...

If you're making a braai and want stainless steel, find an old urn and cut that in half. It's a useful size - not as big as a 44 gallon drum (which is often too big).

Pics please. I am in need of said urn.

Sorry, I don't have pics. My personal braai is an old wheel rim with a Weber grid I bought from Makro.

My son-in-law's dad gets old urns from the scrap yard, and cuts them in half length wise to make braais. I think he rivets the lid on too. Makes a neat braai that wont rust. You need to know up some sort of stand though.

Take an angle grinder to an SAB keg. put the keg on its side cut in half, put hinges on it and bobs your uncle.

yep R800 is a good price for that one

get some sand to layer the bottom so it lasts longer and you good

just make sure you put it in the spot you want cause moving that with sand inside is a mission

These guys are going to e-mail me pictures of the ones they have available.
If anyone wants me to forward the pictures, toss me a PM with your e-mail address.
If I'm happy, I'm going to go have a look on Monday.

Rudys Braai shop in Wetton. Google them. Its a steelworks place that makes them on the side line.

I paid around 1200 i think.

Its stainless steel / galvanised construction. The grid can be raised / lowered. It has 2 wheels on the 1 side and feet on the other. And it has a small table on the one side too. They also make them in 2 sizes.

And some of my friends have had them for years... and I mean 10-20! These guys I'm thinking about leave it outside in the weather... and it may not look polished, but is just as solid as when it was new.

Highly recommend it!!

I would go for 57cm Weber, allot of accessories! I have 3(diffrent sizes - for locations and events) one 13 years old, still going stong! The enamel really work, if you look after your weber.

Ask Morty what he think about his weber.

Also get a pizza stone and rotiserie.
