Guidance needed to purchase a desktop for work and sometimes fun...
  • budget available R11K
  • Must include:
    • Wi-Fi
    • Bluetooth
  • Purpose
    • Power Bi
    • SQL Dev
    • Office 365
    • Tableau
  • DELL is currently not an option
Thanks All!

11k doesn't bring fun anymore, most graphics cards that do such are in this price bracket already. In the laptop front it's also pretty dismall at this price range.

Yeah, hate to say this... SQL Dev, PowerBI, Tableau etc on an 11k Machine is going to be a shyte experience in the extreme.

And R11k doesn't get you much fun beyond Solitaire.

With them assembling, this should give some potential fun and just hits 11k, you may need to get a bigger SSD. But honestly this is the cheapest parts without a GPU and the APU can just, just play games at 720p maybe pushing to 1080. Oh you'll have to add a wifi card.

In terms of costing; would you say that building the computers yourself is cheaper than buying a ready made device?

Excluding the black friday deals etc.
You'd save R490? Not really a lot to be honest and it really depends on the person, some like to build it up themselves via sourcing parts from different places, others just want the convienence of it being built and tested.

Not really into gaming currently, I have another desktop for that purpose - "fun" will be watching movies, e.g. Netflix, Amazon, etc.

I have built myself maybe 10 PC’s, but I think it I did it again, I would get it assembled by wootware.

It’s “fun” to build it, but when they do it you get a brand new working machine delivered to your door, built to your specs.
They can probably/hopefully do a better job at cable management because they do it all the time. I start strong and then just want to get it over with :p
