Hi, can someone please help me with the following.

I just recently started to use Telkom's "do" Broadband Level 1 Service.

The trouble now is that I used up all my bandwidth for the month already.

Where or what must I do to purchase an extra 1GB of Bandwidth...?

And also, what is Telkom currently charging per month for the ADSL 384kbps Exchange Connection Line? I did not know that their is also an extra ADSL-LINE Rental fee applicable. I thought (according to the advertisement) that you only pay for the regular Line rental...

Thank you all for your comments in advance.:)

Well, you could go down to your nearest Engen and buy an a couple of GB's from Axxess (click here to check which stations are participating) and then you could just enter those details in your router or if you are using dial-up style connections just create a new connection. It's about R70 per GB and has a time window of 3 years :D

Otherwise, WebAfrica and Axxess also offer prepaid solutions where you can go to thier websites and buy extra with a credit-card. These accounts also give you quite a time window to use, although not 3 years ;) And they are also about R70 per GB

Webafrica Prepaid doesn't expire.

Thank you every one for the advice.

I decided to go the "Webafrica" route. The nice thing about them is that you can top-up via an online payment (Using online Banking).

I think that I will end my relations with Telkom (Do Broadband Level 1)

TELKOM DO LEVEL 1 OPTION:

1) Telephone Line Rental: R111-90
2) ADSL Line Rental: R152-00
3)Do Broadband Level 1 (1Gb Cap) R199-00 ---------
R462-90 ----------

WEB AFRICA ADSL 3GB OPTION:

1) Telephone Line Rental: R111-90
2) ADSL Line Rental: R152-00
3) ADSL 3GB Option (3Gb Cap) R199-00
---------
R462-90 ---------

WEB AFRICA ADSL 1GB OPTION:

1) Telephone Line Rental: R111-90
2) ADSL Line Rental: R152-00
3) ADSL 1GB Option (1Gb Cap) R 70-00
----------
R333-90 ----------

So, I can go with the 3Gb Africa Web Option - Thus paying the same. But with an extra 2Gb of Bandwidth.

Or

Still just use the 1Gb Web Africa Option - Saving of R129-00:).
R462-90 (Telkom Do Broadband 1Gb Cap) - R333-90 (Africa Web 1Gb Cap) = R129-00

Does the Do1 price not already include the DSL line rental portion? Thus making it R310.90 instead of R462.90?

TELKOM DO LEVEL 1 OPTION:

You understand that the DoBroadband level 1 includes the ADSL line rental right? So you need to remove that from this example. The Telephone line rental is constant so for the sake of comparison can be ignored.

I was doing those exact sums this evening as I'm considering upgrading to the Do2 package because my cost would be:
Telephone Line Rental: R111.90
Do Level2 package : R258.00 (2GB)

Total: R369.90, so only R59 more than getting the Do1 package but as I understand on this forum, the Do2 option is only hard-capped at 4GB whereas the Do1 is hard-capped at 1GB?

Hello again!

Thank you Bwana.:) Now I also know. Yippee... So it's less R152-00 a month.

TELKOM DO BROADBAND LEVEL 1:

1) Do Broadband Level 1 (1Gb Cap) R199-00
2) Normal Line Rental R111-90
--------
R310-90 --------

But correct me if I'm wrong... Telkom did have an ADSL Line Rental Fee in the past...?

They still do, they just bundle it together with a traffic allowance in the do packages. You can still choose to pay it separately if you want to though.

I just checked now, and Axxess now has SAIX prepaid at R17 per GB :)

You do need to use it within 12 months though (compared to WebAfrica at R19 per GB with no expiration)
