Pure DSL

Yes unfortunately Pure Connect as it's called on the Openserve website is a manual process. We have access to the portal to place orders and if we can't place orders there we need to escalate to Openserve to place an order on their side. Even if some addresses had ADSL before does not automatically allow us to place a Pure Connect order. Openserve has been selective in the areas they allow us to place orders. If the address is not on the coverage map for Pure Connect we can not place an order and Openserve will not make an exception even if we mail them. Even if there is an active ADSL line at that address.
Telkom lunacy at its very best. First announce you are decommissioning ADSL, then launch naked ADSL and make it as difficult as possible for anyone to get it.

Just an update...
So Openserv contacted me and activated the new line and gave me a new number. The problem now is that my login details is still linked to my old number so I cant login....So still waiting.

So waiting all day for Afrihost to reset the CLID so I can log in with my new line....to no avail. Apparently their DSL Lines dept. dont take calls and the only way to reach them is by escalating things. To make things even better is the fact that they invoiced me for half the month without having service. Excellent service there Afrihost!

So still without any connectivity...funny thing is when I phoned Afrihost, the consultant put me on hold while he gets the DslLines dept. on the phone. After I was told they dont take calls. It seems that the left hand doesnt know what the right hand is doing. Im getting told that Openserve shouldnt have changed my number. As if I work there...now everything seems to be in limbo. Openserve says they did their part and Afrihost says they are waiting for Openserve. This is an Afrihost product which I believe Afrihost should sort out. Passing the buck is leaving me as customer in total disarray and breaking down your reputation. I put in a day's leave to spend next to my router because of your total disregard of peoples time and tomorrow I will probably get a call from you to tell me to restart my router while I am at work. I can not describe my frustration.

Hi Wburn,

I apologise for the delay in getting you online.

The ADSL accounts are service number locked. We do this to prevent people from signing up for 1 package and then using it on 4 lines. Openserve has not installed you Pure DSL line yet but there was an active session from your existing line on the account. This caused our system to trigger the activation of the package and lock that number to the account. Since the Pure Connect line has been installed your service number has now changed and the pppoe credentials does not authenticate.

Only the DSL Lines team is allowed to reset the CLID on the account as they need to motivate why. I have escalated it to them to have this done and is waiting for their response. Once I have feedback I will pass that on to you.

Friday is on us again and I get the feeling that I will have to go through another weekend without connectivity.
Just phoned Afrihost and nothing has been done yet.

After a load of phonecalls and mails and Afrinatic doing his best I finally have connectivity.
Thank you Afrinatic for your efforts.
I really hope I dont have to go through this again.

Really sorry it took this long. Pure DSL is relatively new still and there are some functions still under development.
