Put down that cellphone while driving

I don't disagree that one should not play on the phone while driving... to say it is one of the leading causes is just wrong I reckon.

Speeding, inability to actually drive, or ignoring basic rules of the road, and fekking retarded pedestrians are much bigger culprits in my opinion.

But I drive a R1mil car, it is my right to pick my phone up, put it to my ear and talk with people while not indicating, braking erratically and causing several near miss accidents. It's not like I can afford to get a hands free device, and I'm 100% sure my car doesn't have Bluetooth built in already.

THIS!

I found even when I had my phone connected to BT that I was quite distracted. I not the same as when you talk to somebody that is sitting with you in the car. Maybe I was just not used to it

This is true and has been proven.

This is why i want to install a jammer in my car!

"More than two thirds of drivers make calls while driving."

More than two thirds of drivers are id10ts!
I was behind one today. He almost swerved into oncoming traffic, battled to change gears, was driving incredibly slow etc.

Incidentally it has been shown that calling hands-free is not necessarily safer.

In 2009, I took a call and received some shocking news while driving - disastrous outcomes! Never took a call while behind the wheel ever since that day.

lol @ R1mil car comments. Some okes walk around with serious butt hurt.

I see drivers of every class yakking on their phones daily. 200km a day on the road shows me quite a few of these. 9 times out of 10 when a driver does something stupid (wander lanes, drive too slow, etc..), they are on their phone. The worst are people texting.

People know me. When I am driving, don't message - call. My non R1mil car has a bluetooth kit and it is the only way I will use my phone on the road. Why? Many years back I nearly caused an accident while using my phone and driving. Never done it since.

I'm really butthurt everytime I see 1mil cars standing still in deadlock traffic while I pass them all and wonder to myself "what traffic?" Yip you got me pegged.

I just find it funny in those particular cases, the car has BT, why dont you use it?

edit: like I was behind a BMW X6, ie not a cheap car. This particular driver didn't use the following - indicators, mirrors, seatbelts, BT, the car seat at the back (kid was standing in between the two front seats). It just boggles my mind that someone who is supposedly wealthy is so immensely dumb/lazy. I suppose they get full value out of their ABS though :p

Same here. Messages and emails can wait until I get to my destination.

Ja, people survived for thousands of years with out this, now all of a sudden it's like taking away there ozygen.
I know people, the whole time/day they're with me, no-one calls them or they're not on the phone. But get them behind a wheel and the phone is against the head. Everytime I see them drive, the phone is against the head. WTF

Saw traffic slowing down towards Gilloolys yesterday, and thought there was a broken down truck (again) or something. Turns out it was some bitch texting away looking down at her phone - on the ****ing highway during peak hour traffic! Cars ahead of her had already moved about 100m away.

Always amazes me how some people always think they are so special and their lives are so important they have to take that call/reply to that sms while driving.

Stupid ****s the lot.

Indeed. I refuse to take calls or check texts while driving. I have voicemail for a reason: when I get to my destination, I'll return your call.
