Q No More se P

My bank doesn’t charge me R600 to use the app.

Your bank has very many many different sources of income and can afford to not need to charge R600.. the q services have a single source of income and do not have the same luxury as a bank that can just afford to charge 20 bucks or whatever..

Because some people's time is worth more than R300 an hour.

R600 an hour in OP’s case. If his time is worth more than R600 an hour, he would have just paid the service and forgot about it, not come complain on the internet.

Yeah, look, I was responding to someone comparing this to a bank visit, but I didn’t fully understand their analogy.

Just.go.to.the.nearest.qualifying.post.office..!

Yeah they have queues but you can time it right, or come back another time. When I went to renew about 3 weeks ago they had closed my local PO at Erasmusrand (taken over by Postnet who also wanted money and it would take 3-5days :-( ), Menlyn PO was so crowded the single queue was out the door so I looked up the next closest PO on my phone & went to Garsfontein, still only took me less than half a Sat morning to renew my discs..

What I like is they're directly connected to Natis, so if there's fines or you're late (like I was) they just slap the appropriate penalty or one time they processed my application & gave me a cert but withheld my disc 'cos there was an outstanding admission-of-guilt fine I hadn't yet paid. Direct feedback baby not waiting to hear in 5 days time etc.

Its the only function I still use the post office for, but 99% of the time it just works 100%

Not an option in the Western Cape unfortunately.
COCT - has walkin facilities. I went on Sunday at the Table Bay Mall, walked 30 minutes later out. It took so long because at one stage all 5 tellers decided on an impromptu 15 minutes break (Tea Time). This was exactly 1 hour after opening time.

I just needed two things, my ID card and my bank card. The actual time at the teller was about 5 minutes.

Uh no... in what universe can you get through the q at the single eNatis machine at your local post office without in less than two hours -
Not what universe, you can do it in any decent city. I’ve never taken a full hour to do it.

I see. Now that's convenient. Not everyone can walk to their nearest post office in under 15 minutes. Everyone should move to Killarney.

Ha! It was a red herring! Killarney post office is a mess! I’ll never tell you my secret post office that works well! I don’t want you plebs clogging it up!!!

Justified or not, I am not in a position to pay a 3rd party extra for the service, went to the Post Office yesterday afternoon, was in and out in 10min. Use the same PO every year, and it is always this fast.
