Hi guys,

which one should i get out of those, replacing my bro's computer. it's gonna be used more for gaming and a bit of video encoding?

thanks

You future proof yourself with the 9550, since it's quad core. While the dual core may be cheaper or higher clocked, you can't get those extra 2 cores later when software is written to take advantage of it.

Also, a quad just makes for a much smoother desktop experience. No scientific evidence for that except feeling it.

Asha hahah i agree with you, when i loaded up with my old dual core e8400 is took awhile, then i got the q9550 and it loaded way way faster.

Even though they say windows only uses one core there is no doubt it runs faster on a quad so i am confused but yea hehe.

Placebo effect, perhaps?

;)

:D

more cache on the quad core

video encoding . . . definitely the q9550

+1
Definitly the Q9550 for video editing/converting and its good to future proof your system as most new games n software are written to take advantage of the 4 cores.I have the Q9550 and i must say it is quite fast at video converting ,just waitin for my new board so i can oc this baby:)
