Qbit OS - a fast startup linux OS with softwares preinstalled

Hi there!

I would like to share a free linux OS.

Description: It comes preinstalled with all the necessary softwares for productivity, graphics and multimedia (eg. Openoffice, Firefox, Thunderbird, Gimp, etc.). With all the softwares preinstalled, it still starts up fast and can even run from a USB drive!

Hardware requirement: basic Intel Pentium or similar. At least 512MB DDR ram is recommended. Only needs about 512MB of storage space.

Free linux? omg.. seriously? You can get linux for free?!

Why should I use your distro over the already equally priced and better supported Ubuntu?

What flavor did you build it on? How often will your repos be updated? What kinda support is there for it?

Opps! Thanks for pointing that ou =). I have changed the title. Oh, its just a lightweight linux OS. Its no competition to Ubuntu of course...but it does startup faster than Ubuntu =). It comes preinstalled with softwares.

Yes, it is build from Puppy =).

I have a couple of copies of Puppy.. its "okay" but ... looks cheap and dirty. Have you tried doing the same with Slax? Its sooo much better imho.

Wow! Thanks w1z4rd! This is probably what we need! Now we don't have to recompile the OS everytime there is a new software update =)!

Come on, give the guy a break.

From which part of the globe are you? If are SA, is there a local server we can get hold of said distro?

I will check it out if I can get it locally.

Will be watching this thread.

Been to the site, everything looks legit. If people here are happy with Qbit, then I'll try it out at one stage.
