Hi,

Does any know of any cheap-ish decent devices that I can use for a remote branch for our voip service.

I wanna run voip & internet off the same dedicated DSL line.

Anyone had any experience with a type of device that I can use?

What I'm looking to achieve is a device that will prioritize voice traffic.

So for instance hypothetically, 1 user makes a call, and is dedicated bandwidth, another makes a call, and they dedicated an equal share of bandwidth etc et

Cheers
K

Your router should do basic QoS, otherwise a Fortigate should do the trick

I suggest you get a dd wrt capable device (asus or linksys) you can dedicate x amount of bandwidth to ip or ranges i.e. if you have 4096/512 line you can reserve bandwidth for that only certain ip may use.

1. get device
2. load ddwrt
3. do speedtest through device
4. reserve 64kb for each simm voice call you expect

check here http://www.dd-wrt.com/demo/ under NAT/Qos/Qos
